I know they pay for the usage and i am totally against STM but if you are capped to ten mb from 50 then it seems to me that it will still eat into the bandwidth being used.

20mb users currently get throttled to 5mb if they download more than 3gb between 4.00pm to 9.00pm, as yet I don't know the proposed stm limits on the new 50mb service, either way for the money they pay for these high speeds I imagine they'd like to use them at peak times, I know I would.

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
A question for those who've already been upgraded - does the upgrade in speed happen automatically or does the modem need to be rebooted? And if the latter, how do you know that the upgrade has been applied and that the modem needs the reboot? I'm abroad at the moment and anxious to get the higher upload speeds for my Slingbox (which generally runs at pretty much the current max of 380 kbs) so need to know what my ladies at home need to do, if anything, to get that extra speed.

The modem needs to be rebooted.Just switch the modem off for a couple of minutes, then switch it back on.Not exactly difficult to do once a day.

Thank you. I take it from your last sentence that VM don't notify you that the upgrade has been done?

Even if this was true, as I have never used my ntl/VM email (and have no idea what it is, and thus how to access it), it wouldn't be much good to me anyway! So it seems that it's a matter of checking from time to time. I guess in my absence I may delegate the task to number 2 daughter who is vaguely technically literate!

Some customers have received notification by post, but I would not hold my breath over all getting a letter, best just rebooting your modem once a week.

I'm in Farnborough, eagerly awaiting too! Was on 20meg for ages until they realised and started to charge me properly for it! Having withdrawal symtoms now!
