There are some buildings from the 1960s that have been listed. They are considered to have "architectural merit". Of course that now means that the owners are saddled with buildings nobody wants because they are too expensive to maintain and operate, and very difficult to bring closer to today's standards.
Whilst I don't necessarily agree with the bean counter mentality of paper savings of relocation vs staying put, if the met police were not looking at their building portfolio as part of cost savings, something would be very wrong.
