Why don’t people challenge vm cos i have never paid more than £20 for my 4mb bb and telephone included, In fact its £17.99 for bb and £2 for my phone line, If you call customer service and tell them you want to speak to retentions and tell them you can get bb cheaper else where they will negotiate for a better price for you.
Give it a try; after all they don’t want to lose customers do they

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
Actually, sometimes they do.
If you check other threads on this matter, some people have tried that tactic and got the answer "sorry to hear that, bye bye". It often depends if you have other services, and if they regard you as a profitable customer.
It's up to each individual to decide if they want to risk it.

East London Upgrade Soon
Just in case anyone in East London missed this, we'll be getting this 10mb upgrade in April. So if you're in Ilford, Barking, Romford and all other areas in East London, it's not long to wait now.

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
why are they bothering to increase speeds if their is nothing to use it on?
i've posted this so many times but no-one seems to actually think sane.
say virgin offer 10mbit great if they offer 20mb even better or is it?
if the only reason you want broadband and 99.9% of the reason is downloading
then this is bad, because their basically coaxing you more and more to download.
if i had a 1mb connection and no legal services out their allowed me to download
and i found content elsewhere i'd be hmm its going to take ages and ages to get it.
so i'd probably give up, but give me a way to get it in 5-10 mins or less hell im for it.
virgin want us to all stop using their services for downloading content.
even though that is all the 99.9 of customers have fast Internet in the first place.
but instead of making it harder and harder for customers they are doing the other.
why in hell would they keep increasing speeds to make people want to download
and on the other hand still to this day not offer a valid service to download from.
instead because they dont provide that service, you find your own they get anoyed
and now start to sending warning letters.
what do they expect people who's getting faster and faster connections to do?
if we cant or they don't want us using bandwidth or downloading why on gods earth
do they keep increasing speeds? lol makes no sense not 1 little bit.

LOL! But you forget they bash you with the big STM Stick when people DO download those 'legal things' at the most convenient time for most of them, i.e. Peak Hours!
And seeing as the clocks went forward, is STM now 5pm til 10pm

Personally I think VM and for that matter any large ISP will have no option but to bring in limits, because surly it will become untenable when people have 20mb and 50mb speeds to cap usage or their speeds at peak hours. Something will have to give because it hardly seems fair paying for a high speed you cant use at peak times, hence a set fee for say 50gb per month, then each additional gb as pay as you go. It may not be ideal, but at least you get the speed you payed for.

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer
Sorry if this has been said before but here goes, If 4mb (10mb) users are capped or STM'ed down to 1mb for four hours then what do the 20-50mb users get capped to? it would not be fair to cap them to such a low speed but on the other hand if they are capped to 10mb then is that a real punishment. I know they pay for the usage and i am totally against STM but if you are capped to ten mb from 50 then it seems to me that it will still eat into the bandwidth being used.
