I'd be surprised if Chris Evans can match the style of Clarkson and co. I think it will sink.

Now that May and Hammond are not going to be re-hired by the BBC the three as a team can now offer themselves to the highest bidder.

Re: Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday

I'd have thought that, if they're heading to another channel, the old crew would want to get something sorted before the Beeb starts the new series with Evans.

Yum. Sorry, I mean she clearly has a super personality and excellent presentational skills.

TBH I don't understand the obsession with the 3 old-timers. They all have a passion for puerility and over-enunciation which I think is termed 'laddish'. It was one of the reasons I didn't bother with it.

Besides, change is good. All the other soap operas prove that after years of the same old thing everyone gets tired. And be honest who gives a monkeys about an orange Zonda or caravan destruction.

Re: Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday

I think he may work well, of course it all depends on who they get to join him.

I love his wacky presenting style and the fact he is a car nut and also already a massive fan of the show.

Only time will tell however.

Re: Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday

Evans took the job because all 3 quit, so that's fair play to him. I hope it does work and I will watch it regardless and if the same format / production team stays then hopefully it'll still be good.

I don't see the point in trying to compare the new team with the old. Top Gear did start to get a bit stupid / childish and way too set up so was losing a bit of interest in it anyway.

Re: Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday

Every time I switched it on, it was the same: three greying men driving three clapped out cars on some contrived, stage-managed challenge. It used to be hilarious but it had got well past its sell-by date.

Evans loves cars but he is not Jeremy Clarkson. They have an opportunity to do something new and interesting. I hope they take it.

Re: Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday

Maybe Evans' version will serve to show how tired TG had become, albeit still very funny in places.

I wonder if the Beeb will use this opportunity to ensure any co-hosts create a suitably PC impression.

The PC brigade at the BBC will be in overdrive at the moment deciding what mix of presenters they will need.

Well, to be fair to the Beeb, their money-maker punched his way out of the job and you can't have a-holes like that around. Perhaps if his mummy had been stricter with him, he could have reached puberty and kept his job.

No, out with the old and in with the new. Too much British TV just goes on and on and on - someone ought to have refreshed this show ages ago.

Well it seems over on the Top Gear forums the selection of the new host has not gone down well. Time will tell but i will have to read about it as i have no intention of watching Chris Evans make a mess of it.

I only watched top gear because of Clarkson, Hammond and May. It was the interaction between them. I can't stand Evans
