It was the opposite fo rme when I was a beta tester.

The beta firmware previous to this I think they disabled the auto updates which mant when the next stable firmware was released my superhub wouldnt update, and VM seemed clueless on the matter deciding to just send me a new superhub instead of forcing an update to the existing one I had.

So I expect you wont be downgraded and there is a chance you wont get future auto updates.

Wait and do nothing unless you are part of the limited release. The area(s) that will be getting it early haven't been announced yet sfaik - that should appear on the VM community board first but it will no doubt get reposted here fairly quickly. Beta testers usually get the firmware pushed to their hubs but I think a general release only gets installed when it reboots naturally - with the early Superhub firmware this was usually about every other day.

My Superhub is part of the extended R36 trial.

The GUI looks a lot cleaner now. As I haven't had cause to change anything I don't know if it still behaves the way it did. I don't intend to be doing any trendsetting - I'll just use it as I would have anyway and monitor stability.

Initial short time on it suggests that the earlier reported jitter improvement seems to be there for me too. WiFi seems to be just as bad - I'd logged in on my phone downstairs but went upstairs as a phone isn't ideal for checking router GUIs. It moaned that I was still logged in and only 1 session is supported - I had to go back downstairs before I could get the phone to connect so I could log out. My DIR655 maintained a connection in both locations with no problem at all.

Spike of packet loss shows when firmware got upgraded.

Yes as it comes down via the internet, modem mode only turns off the NAT/Wifi/other three LAN ports

wasnt you on your vmng only last week before upgrading and now you got r36 already?

Yes. Guess I got lucky on R36 as I didn't go out of my way to get it.

I see that the evening jitter is now at similar levels to what it was in the wee small hours. Clearly something was done to improve it - whether it's just TBB charts or real world performance I'll probably never know as I'm not a gamer and my VOIP phone worked OK anyway.

That's odd kwik, our wireless seems to be improved. My Blackberry holds connection in the garden now, it didn't prior to R36 beta. Given that our garden is 60ft long and is separated from the Shub by the kitchen and a brick conservatory I'm pretty happy.

I'm comparing the Superhub to what I had before not R30 and R36. The probable clincher is the external aerials on the DIR655 compared to the two tiny PCB patches you get in a Superhub.

The distance from here to my SH is less than 15m and is just a couple of partition walls plus floor/ceiling. There is a certain amount of in band interference from a FON router feeding an external antenna from this room but on a different channel so it would only be de-sensitising the receiver. The phone is an HTC Desire.

A follow on to my earlier moaning about IP reservations...

Unless I got lucky as I was only deleting and adding one to take advantage in the ability to add a name if one wasn't picked up I see that in R36 it doesn't reboot when adding a reservation (or at least not doing what I did with the device already on the IP) and you can add several before hitting Apply - something I discovered by just doing an "update" because the addition was lost (without any warning). Still klunky as you have to manually type the MAC and you can lose your work without warning but at least you don't get the reboots.

Sorry to say but comments like that do make me laugh.. With antennas size doesn;t matter but it's more dependant on the resonance of the antenna.. The "tiny patches" are probably 1/4 wavelength on 2.4ghz and the only disadvantage over external antennas is positioning (but you can always rotate the superhub or lay it on it's side. The large external antennas on some hubs are not colliners (i.e.. stacked antennas) and will probably only give a fraction of a db gain over the superhub ones..

More than likely it's a combination of the firmware and the associated circuitry of the 2.4ghz PA and receive causing the issue.. Yep a bad design and a decent antenna might help but don't solely blame the antennas
