re: Operation Yewtree
I was thinking that it was an attempt to deflect attention. Like, "He wouldn't be stupid enough to make jokes about this if he was up to something. He is making jokes about it, so he's probably not up to something".
But, as you say, he may just have been playing a massive joke on everyone. Whatever it is, he seems to have gotten away with it.

As previously explained, it is only a rumour. As previously stated, I am not spreading rumours about this individual for him to get into unnecessary trouble.

As previously explained, the first underage girl that he now lives with is now over the age of consent. The police have spoken to him about this, but no action was taken due to lack of evidence.
The current underage girl is merely a rumour. The police would not be interested and, as I said earlier, there is no legal requirement for one to report a crime, be it real or perceived.

Very, very true.

Libel laws are a good thing, I have used them to deal with people in the past.
Without them, we'd have people going around spouting rubbish and/or saying whatever they felt like!!!
I like the word succinct too

Lets face it some will have a genuine reason to come forward and good on them, however there will be those who will just say "i heard it in a rumour", Walla free publicity

Police investigating alleged sexual abuse of girls by the late Jimmy Savile are pursuing 120 separate lines of inquiry, a press conference was told.
Commander Peter Spindler, head of specialist crime investigations, said police had recorded eight allegations against Sir Jimmy, including two rapes.
He later told the BBC there could be up to 30 victims, spanning four decades.
Police said it would be a joint inquiry with children's charity the NSPCC and it would be named Operation Yewtree.
During the briefing at the Metropolitan Police headquarters in London, police said the alleged victims were mainly girls who were aged between 13 and 16 at the time.
Cdr Spindler said of the eight criminal allegations, six were alleged indecent assaults on young teenage girls.
He praised the alleged victims for "shining a light" on the abuse.
"Information is coming in as we speak probably," said Cdr Spindler.
"The reality is this really has captured the public's mind. We are getting calls from victims, from witnesses and third parties who believe they know something about it."

Sir Jimmy Savile's grave in Scarborough is to be dismantled following allegations he sexually abused girls.
The entertainer's triple headstone at Woodlands Cemetery is to be taken down from first light on Wednesday.
A family spokesman said the decision had been made due to "the impact the stone remaining there could have on the dignity and sanctity of the cemetery".
Sir Jimmy had a long association with Scarborough and was buried there after his death, aged 84, in October 2011.
The family spokesman said: "Out of respect to public opinion, to those who are buried there, and to those who tend their graves and visit there, we have decided to remove it."

I think if the family have asked for the gravestones to be removed then it must be conceded that the evidence against him is overwhelming especially when coupled with the statement from the police .It certainly does shake my belief that people do good because they want to and not for what they get out of it

People to do good because they want too. Maybe Savile was not one of these people. All this should do is shake your opinion of Savile not of people.

His family said they requested the removal of the headstone memorial "out of respect to public opinion" following allegations he sexually abused girls.
|
Quote:
The headstone, which was inscribed with the epitaph "It Was Good While It Lasted" and verses composed by a family friend, will now be destroyed.
"We've taken it back to our yard in Leeds. We'll grind the inscription off and we will dispose of the memorial. It'll be broken up and just go to landfill," Mr Morphet said.

There may be an element of vandalism prevention in it but then the family wouldn't allow it to go to landfill

re: Operation Yewtree
I do think that the people who suspected this might be going on, and by that I mean the people who had a position of responsibility - for example the nurses at Stoke Mandeville, should also be investigated. I find it disturbing that there are people coming out now saying that they encouraged kids to pretend they were asleep when Saville came to visit, yet did not hilight this when it happened. If it was as common knowledge as it is supposed to be, then they should be punished appropriately.
