TOP OFFER'S planned Qipco 2,000 Guineas warm up in Saturday's Group 3 Aon Greenham Stakes has been shelved after trainer Roger Charlton decided conditions would be too soft to risk the exciting colt so close to Newmarket.

The 2,000 Guineas second favourite will still be sent to Newbury where his exercise will be limited to walking the pre-parade ring, but his preparation for the May 5 Classic will be completed on Charlton's Beckhampton gallops.

Tales Of Grimm, who won the other division of the Newbury maiden to Top Offer last August, was also pulled out of the Greenham on Friday, leaving just five runners in the 2,000 Guineas trial

EXCELEBRATION, twice second to the mighty Frankel last year, has been declared for his hotly anticipated first run for trainer Aidan O'Brien in Sunday's Group 3 Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes at the Curragh.

The JLT Lockinge Stakes entry was last seen finishing runner-up to Frankel in the Qipco-backed Queen Elizabeth II Stakes when he was beaten by four lengths.

THE front-running Harris Tweed powered clear inside the final furlong to record victory in the hands of Liam Jones.

The William Haggas-trained five-year-old was made to battle by Allied Powers but he kept on relentlessly to score by five lengths.

FRANKEL'S little brother Noble Mission broke his maiden at the second attempt at Newbury on Saturday when he was pushed out to win the first division of the 1m three-year-old maiden.

Representing the same connections of trainer Sir Henry Cecil, jockey Tom Queally and owner Khalid Adbullah as superstar Frankel, Noble Mission was restricted to one run as a juvenile due to sore shins and immaturity in which he finished second.

MOONSTONE MAGIC relished the conditions the give trainer Ralph Beckett a third success in this Qipco 1,000 Guineas trial.

The 7-2 shot saw off Radio Gaga with the pair pulling a long way clear from Beckett's other runner Electrelane, who took third spot.

The winner is not entered in the 1,000 Guineas but the runner-up is. Both came from the two lowest stalls.

MERIGO, winner of Scottish Grand National in 2010 and runner-up last year, proved his liking for the Ayr marathon once more when battling to a hard-fought victory.

The well backed 15-2 shot, trained by Andrew Parker, vied with Auroras Encore (25-1) from three out in a thrilling duel before snatching back his crown by a head in the shadow of the post.

King Fontaine, a 40-1 shot, was third, while Ballyfitz, sent off at 33-1, came home fourth.

CASPAR NETSCHER was driven out by jockey Shane Kelly to defeat Boomerang Bob and odds-on favourite Bronterre at Newbury.

The race had been robbed of some of its intrigue on Friday when leading Qipco 2,000 Guineas hope Top Offer and Tales Of Grimm were withdrawn due to the going leaving five to go to post.

CAMELOT has been cut to even money with Ladbrokes for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas after Aidan O'Brien confirmed the colt was ‘working towards' the Newmarket Classic on May 5.

A best-priced 7-4 with bet365, Paddy Power and Coral, Camelot shortened on the backof stablemate Nephrite fluffing his lines at the Curragh on Sunday. The Loughbrown Stakes third has been pushed out to 16-1 (from 9) by Coral.

Spokesman David Stevens said: "We had seen some support for Nephrite for the 2,000 Guineas ahead of his reappearance, but although that gamble looks to have gone astray, the market strongly suggests Camelot will be heading to Newmarket, in which case he will start a red-hot favourite for the opening Classic of the season."

EXCELEBRATION enjoyed little more than a morning gallop as he strolled away with the Group 3 Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes at The Curragh on Sunday.

With the Lockinge Stakes booked in at Newbury next month, the win sets up another possible duel with Frankel, who beat him three times last year.

The four-year-old, making his first start from Ballydoyle after being bought by Derrick Smith out of Marco Botti's stable, only had to have the reins shaken at him by Joseph O'Brien to go clear in the final furlong.

REQUISITION upset stablemate and odds-on favourite Nephrite when making all to land the Loughbrown - Sunday's win for Aidan O'Brien was the trainer's sixth success in the race over last ten years.

Nephrite was settled in rear by Joseph O'Brien and travelled strongly into the Listedcontest. As the field entered the final furlong O'Brien asked his mount to quicken, but the response was minimal and he made no headway.

That left Requisition and Coolnagree, who both raced prominently, to fight out the finish, with Seamie Heffernan's mount never headed.

CHRYSANTHEMUM made it two wins from two starts in 2012, winning in fine style despite having to concede weight to her six rivals.

A Group 3 winner first time up, David Wachman's four-year-old made all under a clever ride from Wayne Lordan, who had them all at it a long way out. He allowed his nearest pursuers to close on him before kicking clear again inside the final two furlongs.

LYRIC OF LIGHT will join stablemate Discourse in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 6 after working over the Classic course and distance on Sunday morning.

Trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni, who sent out Blue Bunting to take last year's 1,000 Guineas, Lyric Of Light is unbeaten in three starts and is the general 8-1 third favourite for Newmarket.

The daughter of Street Cry was last seen winning the Group 1 ShadwellFillies' Mile at Newmarket and Al Zarooni was impressed as he watched her stretch five lengths clear of two stable companions.

"Lyric Of Light did a good piece of work which will have helped her get ready for the Guineas," Al Zarooni said on Godolphin's website.

Conditions at Punchestown are set to be unusually testing for late April, but whilst racegoers might find themselves getting a tad damp or even a little muddy, the weather-inflicted woes will be worth it as Ireland's premier jumping festival kicks off with a cast headed by two winners of the Sportingbet Queen Mother Champion Chase and the favourite for next year's Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup.

HARD DREAM (Francois Rohaut/Stephane Pasquier) made light of atrocious conditions to earn a place in the Prix du Jockey Club in six weeks' time.

Along with Tifongo, the son of Oasis Dream helped dictate an extremely sedate pace in ground bordering on heavy, and when the two leaders settled down to fight out the finish none of their four rivals was able to land a serious blow.

Owner Tony Ford is now in the happy position of having a French Derby prospect to go alongside his Poule d'Essai des Pouliches hopeful Lily America.

SIR DES CHAMPS overcame a shocking blunder at the last to record his seventh straight success in the hands of Davy Russell for owner Gigginstown House Stud and trainer Willie Mullins.

The six-year-old, having his first start in Grade 1 company and over the 3m1f trip, looked set to score by a wide margin before he clattered through the final fence and sent Russell up around his neck.

The pair somehow managed to retain the partnership and went on to score by 36 lengths from Shop Dj after Mossey Joe took a heavy fall at the same fence, which resulted in Frisco Depot being brought down.

Mullins said: "It was quite fortuitous, I think. Davy [Russell] did well to stay on but he was doing it nicely before that. I think he was lucky to stand up.

SNAP TIE, having his first start for 921 days, returned to action with a bang as he stormed to victory in what was a remarkable training performance by Philip Hobbs.

The ten-year-old was having his first run since landing a novice chase at Cheltenham in October 2009. He was forced to miss the past two Cheltenham Festivals with leg problems, but he showed his true colours when he battled on well to score at 16-1.

ALDERWOOD recorded his third straight success in just over a month when he rallied bravely to edge out short-priced favourite Trifolium under an inspired Tony McCoy.

His chances of landing a first Grade 1 victory appeared slim as Trifolium set sail for home approaching the last but Alderwood dug deep under a power-packed McCoy to score by a half a length at odds of 5-2.

MOST IMPROVED has been ruled out of the Qipco 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket next month due to an injury he picked up before last week's Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes.

Trained by Brian Meehan for owner Iraj Parzivi, Most Improved was backed into 4-1 second favouritism for the 2,000 Guineas on the back of bullish words from his trainer and sparkling workout reports.

However, Most Improved missed his scheduled engagement in the Craven after being found lame on the morning of the race last Thursday.

MARASONNIEN led home a memorable 1-2-3 for trainer Willie Mullins and owners Rich and Susannah Ricci when seeing off stablemates Vesper Bell and Sous Les Cieux to score for jockey Paul Townend.

The 12-1 winner travelled well into the straight and quickened up smartly to take lead before the last. Vesper Bell, who disputed the running for most of the race, took second ahead of 7-2 favourite Sous Les Cieux.

Mullins said: "I wouldn't have thought I've done that before and the owner has done it as well."

LAST month Quevega was the heroine of Cheltenham as she secured a fourth David Nicholson and she seamlessly transferred that awesome ability to Punchestown on Thursday to make it three World Series Hurdles on the trot.

Willie Mullins' magnificent eight-year-old defeated main rival Voler La Vedette in a display of imperious superiority after the final flight.

"She's a real good mare and she's showed it today," said Mullins. "I suppose some people thought she probably hadn't met much before, but Voler La Vedette had the credentials today after her good run at Cheltenham."

One of the greatest mares ever to grace the racecourse in my opinion.

PENITENT made it two from two for new trainer David O'Meara and landed a first Group victory under a confident ride by Danny Tudhope, travelling best before grinding out the win from Earl of Sefton winner Questioning.

The first two home contested the finish of a Listed race at Doncaster on the opening day of the season, with Penitent coming out on top and Questioning promoted to second.

DAVY RUSSELL was at his very best as he snuck Dedigout into contention, jumping into the lead between runners at the last before pulling clear on the run in.

SPRINT sensation Black Caviar (Peter Moody/Luke Nolen) set an Australasian city record of 20 consecutive wins with another imperious display in the Sportingbet Classic.

The unbeaten daughter of Bel Esprit travelled powerfully from her draw in stall three, before sauntering clear of her nine rivals to maintain her unbeaten record.

Electric from the gate, Nolen had to ease BlackCaviar back to get a lead from Just Sybil and Spurcific in the early stages, racing just off the rail in third position.

Rounding the home turn, Black Caviar had already pulled herself past the pace setters and into a clear lead. Powering further clear, Nolen only had to change his hands in the final furlong as Black Caviar extended her winning sequence.

THE enigmatic Tidal Bay, given a brilliant ride by Daryl Jacob, defied top weight to score a decisive success in the final big chase of the season.

The Paul Nicholls-trained 11-year-old, who has flattered to deceive on so many occasions, came good this time to land his first win in almost two and a half years.

Sent off at 9-1, he took the lead at the last from Roalco De Farges (7-1) and surged clear to win by 15 lengths. Any Currency (16-1) was another seven lengths back in third and Vic Venturi (25-1) fourth.

COLOMBIAN ground down determined front-runner Poet to claim a gruelling victory under jockey William Buick.

In what could only be described as testing conditions for Flat racing, Poet was roused into the lead by Ryan Moore with Colombian sitting in his slipstream.

Kicking offthe home turn, Poet went for glory, his seemingly relentless stride continuing up the tiring Sandown straight.

Too tiring for Twice Over, who weakened afterbeing ridden to challenge three furlongs out, and at one stage looking too tiring for the John Gosden-trained Colombian as well.

CHINA ROCK, who ran as recently as Tuesday on day one of the festival, recorded the first success of his career over 3m in a thrilling Gold Cup.

The first-time tongue-tie clearly did the trick for 20-1 shot as he kept on well enough under Barry Geraghty to hold off the challenge of Follow The Plan. The 15-8 favourite and long-time leader Quel Esprit finished third.

The Mouse Morris-trained winner was stepping back up to this distance having been beaten 24 lengths into fourth spot behind Sizing Europe in Tuesday's 2m Champion Chase.

Making all under Joseph O'Brien, the close relation of last year's Derby winner Pour Moi quickened impressively from the front in the rain-softened ground to beat her rivals by upwards of eight and a half lengths, and was shortened to a general 5-1 second favourite for the Epsom Classic behind her stablemate Maybe, although bet365 went as short as 4-1 (from 14-1). CIRRUS DES AIGLES (Corine Barande-Barbe/Olivier Peslier) landed his third Group 1in impressive fashion in the Ganay, taking the lead early and slowly pulling away from his rivals to beat Giofra and Reliable Man with contempt.

Peslier took things up in the back straight and set a steady gallopon the winner, before injecting pace into the contest rounding the home bend to stretch the field.

Entering the home straight Cirrus Des Aigles was three lengths clear of his nearest pursuers and pulled further clear under nothing more than hands and heels urging from Peslier to win by eight lengths.

FRANCOIS ROHAULT'S remarkable run of wins in this season's Classic trials continued as Trois Lunes (Francois-Xavier Bertras) burst between horses to score by a neck.

"Francois has given her a dream ride and she's a filly we've always liked, although I don't think she necessarily liked the ground this heavy," said Rohault, who now has realistic contenders for all four classics in France this spring.

"Moonstone Magic needs dig in the ground for sure and I think it's unlikely she will be as effective on quicker ground as horses who are so effective on soft going are rarely as effective on fast ground.

"She has recovered from Newbury but its always going to be a concern running three races in as many weeks. However, her owners are keen to run and I'm keen to run."

Conditions were due to get brighter at Newmarket on Tuesday and clerk of the course Michael Prosser said: "If the forecast is correct and we get a couple of dry days we are going to be going into Saturday on good ground."

Sir Henry Cecil plans to take Frankel for a racecourse gallop at Newmarket on Sunday as he builds towards his eagerly-anticipated seasonal return.

The world's highest-rated Flat horse suffered a leg injury earlier this month and for a brief period there were real concerns about the four-year-old's future racing career.

A subsequent scan revealed the unbeaten nine-time winner had suffered no serious damage though, and he is now back in full work ahead of his likely return in the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on May 19.

Colour Vision made a most impressive debut for the Godolphin team in the Blue Square Levy Board Sagaro Stakes at Kempton.

The four-year-old enjoyed a fine end to 2011 when trained by Mark Johnston, winning at Pontefract before placing in the Cesarewitch and the British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot.

Dettori was happy to sit out the back for much of the two-mile journey and he still had each of his five rivals to pass at the top of the straight, but when the Italian jockey did go for his mount, the response was impressive as the Saeed bin Suroor's grey (9-2) finished strongly to take the Group Three prize by a length and a half - without being seriously troubled.
