A good idea!
It will be one less thread to moderate for a while..

Those debating the advertising of 'unlimited' the ASA permit it so long as a certain % of customers do not fall foul of the FUP.

Dont they have 6 months to comply with that? And i dont think its up yet?

Re: Legal action taken against Virgin Media throttling practices
I've gotten clarification - apparently VM should be offering customers the opportunity to monitor their usage.

That'll be interesting. they say they can't do it even if they wanted to.
they'll just have to abolish STM now

That's absolutely not true. Whoever told you that was talking from their hindmost. High quality IP accounting has been part of IOS for years.

I'm pretty sure it was Alex Brown that said it.

Well as I said whoever it was was talking porkies, it's very possible. Being unwilling to offer a facility is very different from being unable to.

In that case then hopefully OFCOM will be having appropriate words with VM

Althought I have no use for this It is something that I thought was lacking as I have had ADSL since 1999-2007 and with almost all the ISP's.
Now with VM I have only been on STM a handful of times as I do my downloading out of peak times and I monitor my usage on my router any way.

My router does log WAN usage, but only because I put custom fw on it, they should put it in the SACM config pages, or on the website or something.
They should allow you to check your limits, something like netmeter wouldnt work here, because of the amount of data i sling around the local network.

Re: Legal action taken against Virgin Media throttling practices
I have no idea what effect the DD case will have nor how this case is going but hey let the people whose legal experience is watching Law and Order begin offering up their opinions again *takes more of his painkillers to suitably dull senses down to be able to enjoy the thread appropriately*.

Would you mind posting OFCOM's answer in full?
