Thanks for the info. I'm just not confident of building a stable system
.....but they do work out very pricey if there is no monitor included

Re: [Merged] Show us your Desktop or Wallpaper
Ohhh yeah they are pricey but I think they are worth the cost.. its just getting the missus not to buy shoes from Gucci for a month or so, so I can get the £2000 for the pc I need up.

You might be better off seeing if you can source the components yourself (plenty of people can advise you on what to buy) and seeing if a local computer shop will build it for you. Alternatively, if they are able to supply reasonable performance parts, you could get them to do the whole lot, at least you'll be able to walk in with the box should it ever break down.

Re: [Merged] Show us your Desktop or Wallpaper
But would you trust a shop to build it with your parts, he/she could quite easily switch your nice version for some returned rubbish for a higher profit.
personally my next pc will be a Alienware Laptop likely.
Just gotta talk gf into it.....

The building isn't what I'm wary about, it's the component compatability thats the worry.
edit-- I just looked up the spec on alienwares city-17 desktop which comes in at about £2600 after vat and delivery.....and then went over to overclockers (for ease of use) and tried to compare the prices of the components.........It came to ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£ÃƒÆ ’‚£2119 excluding delivery of the bits and cost of fans and other misc. bits ..............

That's why you ask us If you specify a budget one of us could give you a full spec.

Re: [Merged] Show us your Desktop or Wallpaper
LOL, pm us if you wanna talk more about Alienware I know a good forum to dicuss which is open to the public, where discussions on Dell,Sager,Toshiba,Sony, and of course Alienware laptops and desktops systems run on.
Alot of nightmare stories about Alienware but they all have to be checked as you get peeps who dont have one saying there's is crap...
