And we have been through the reasons in detail as to why the channels will NEVER be the same.
Then watch it on freeview or on line and stop complaining. I personally don't want to pay for another news channel just to please a few people.

i don't think you will, it is already free to air

Or have two TiVo boxes, then six channels can be recorded at once, and in the near future, streamed to either box or a PC/Tablet.

Re: Sky or VM for TV???
Anyway, back on topic!!!
I've just got around to ordering my Tivo, and managed to get £30 knocked off the connection fee. And of course the box is free.
So I now have 3 phone lines with mobile call packages, caller ID, and anytime call packages. 100mb BB. 1 standard TV box with XL package, and will also have a Tivo 500 with all the channels except sport. All for £118 per month.
And if for any reason I did want to watch Al Jazeera 'Alan', then I will be able to watch it on either freesat or freeview.
As for Sky, I called them, and I have to give 31 days notice. So I think I will wait to cancel, so that there is an overlap. Just in case VM mess me around on the install date.

That's spooky. Chris posted that 1 second before I did

For those who need it spelling out, 'stay on topic' means, amongst other things, stop making personal comments against other members.
Posts deleted, infractions issued. More will follow for anyone who fancies ignoring this warning.

Out of interest. How reliable are VM at sticking to install dates? My wife would kill me if we didn't have many TV channels at christmas. And I have been reading another thread where they say that there is a shortage of hard drives due to flooded factories. And as Tivos have a hard drive, I'm half expecting a delay.

I recall having a no-show a couple of years ago, but I think the best way to check on dates is to log into 'My Virginmedia' and check your orders. It should have the install date in there (Assuming you already have a VM service and have registered).
I'd imagine that the current stock, and probably the next lot, have already been built and so would not be affected by any hard-drive shortage.

Multi-room streaming, if VM implement it properly, with 2 tivos, will effectively give us 6 recordable tuners and up to 2 gig of recording space.
