200?!
It's about 100 of all varieties of customer on the old stuff per upstream, kinda goes to show that upstream capacity and that side of the offering isn't just not looked at, it's not even on the radar until it affects the downstream.
Your quote wins my signature by the way.

Re: 50Mb areas
Interesting, because my cable modem went offline for 5 minutes and when it returned I am now getting this:
Either there is not many people online or something has been done.

Re: 50Mb areas
Quite possibly dude, they may have turned another upstream up - check your modem stats on upstream and compare them to how they were before and you'll see if they changed.
That or not many people had gotten back online

lol, me too, at some time in the afternoon.
Just a bit of advice for everyone, I dont know whether it applies to all the packages or just this one but they are advertising online that if you sign up for 50mbit + L TV + M Phone for £45 (we had those 2 plus 20mbit anyway) you get a £50 credit applied to your account which wipes off the crapp £50 fee for the free router I dont want.

Re: 50Mb areas
You only get the £50 credit if you have all three services physically installed.
As it says on the website:
The £50 online credit is applied to online purchases of three cable services together (i.e. broadband, TV and phone) on a 12 month contract
You do NOT get the £50 credit if you already have cable services
Sorry

Re: 50Mb areas
lol, well i think they are supposed to run some speed tests while they are round here to make sure everything is ok so we'll have to compare notes afterwards. As much as everyone loves to moan about their speeds, i have never had a problem pulling my full 20mbit so fingers crossed, as the UBR has just been upgraded and we should be the only ones using the docsis 3 equipment, we should have no problem getting 50mbit. I can't wait to get those torrents going ))))))))))) Newsgroups will be a good test as well for multiple connections.

Re: 50Mb areas
Quick reminder, the 20Mbit connections go onto the DOCSIS 3 kit as well, it's what caused the upstream congestion on Mabsey's kit.
Should be fine though and hope it works smoothly and well for you guys.

Re: 50Mb areas
i didnt think they had migrated 20mbit over to docsis 3 yet. I was hoping that the 50mbit dudes were going to be the only ones using it atm (i think it was launched in our area on Thursday) and hopefully me and Garry are going to be the first ones on it because we signed up straight away

20MB isn't on the Docsis 3 network yet. I don't know when they are doing that but am sure the 2 to 10 upgrade happening later in the year will be put on the newer signal type as well. As in on Docsis 3 but modems running on Docsis 2.

20Mbit is on the DOCSIS 3 network, 20Mbit modems are spread across the D3 downstreams before the 50Mbit bonded product is made available in an area, in some ways they 'test' the Edge QAMs and new upstreams.
Stats from a 20Mbit modem on DOCSIS 3:
Quote:
Downstream Lock : Locked
Downstream Channel Id : 52
Downstream Frequency : 306750000 Hz
Downstream Modulation : QAM256
Downstream Symbol Rate : 6952 Ksym/sec
Downstream Interleave Depth : taps12Increment17
Downstream Receive Power Level : 3.6 dBmV
Downstream SNR : 39.8 dB
|
Note the 256QAM EuroDOCSIS and the downstream frequency, customer is on 2nd downstream on the bonded group, on the ex-ntl platforms which you can tell from the frequency offset.
Eventually all modems will be spread across both the bonded group's downstreams and the legacy ones, that's the plan.

50mb Was launched in my area last Tuesday and they had already migrated 400 customers onto it from 20mb, so as Broadbandings has already said, they are on their which highlighted the problem I have been having with upload speeds on the 50mb and also the slow downloads.
I must say, since my complaints, something def has been done as for the past 5 hours I have been getting 50mb download and 1.6mb upload all the time.
