just a two-pence-worth....

If you are struggling with a router, dig out that old 486 from your loft, stick a couple of cheap network cards in it, throw linux on it (*free*) and you have a simple, inexpensive router that hardly ever needs rebooting, and once set up, stays set up!

There are even specific linux distributions that are designed to be combination routers/firewalls and little else - for example, smoothwall and IPCop.

Works for me!
