Re: So 2mb users, how much are you gonna download tomorrow
I got my bill this morning, and it says on it 'Merry Xmas & Happy New Year! We are improving our Broadband services: 1. No more usage allowance for 1mb & 2mb. Get unlimited Internet access from Jan 06'
My download habits won't change - but It's nice not having to keep an eye on how much I DO download.

not at all - it is 'unlimited' - but subject to their terms & conditions, which provide for removal of accounts showing 'unreasonable' use

Nope you'll find the usual disclaimers about being subject to conditions I'm afraid, so you'll have to hold off from having that upstream saturated on your website all the time
ntl has (or had when I was there) a rather oversized legal team who had next to everything put through them and they aren't that stupid.

Its isnt saturated, its limited to 10KB/s maximum. Doesnt matter how many people try and download, the most it will give out is 10KB/s. Plus, my server uses about 2GB/m at present. I doubt it will be go much higher.

Exactly. My global logs show less than 2gb/month on average, and I myself use about 10GB/m just browsing etc.

Re: So 2mb users, how much are you gonna download tomorrow
This sounds a bit confusing compared to what we've been hearing before (I've have no info about unlimited either by the way). My understanding was we're all being moved to 10mbit eventually, but the differences in tariff would be down to how much you could download (75gb on top tier).
So does this now mean we won't automatically be moved to 10mbit, but can stay on 2mbit with unlimited downloads instead?
I also notice the news page said the broadband plus conetent is free now if you're on 2mbit, is this right? Would be good to try it if it was, as I've always avoided it because of the extra fees involved.

But whats the point in 10Mbps if you have a crap limit of say 30gb/month? There are ISP's in sweden that offer 24Mbps unlimited, so whats stopping NTL doing this except for congestion? If its congestion then why dont they get their act together and do something about it? If other countries can do it, whats to say we can't!?!?!
