Though the more serious question is whether it is any longer acceptable to have a senior cabinet member beyond the scrutiny of the elected chamber.

Sunak may well be trying to distance himself from his own party’s right wing but winding back our principles of democratic accountability by a generation is a desperate way of doing it.

They should also bring back Boris as Minister for Sillly Walks ( a post last held by John Cleese), but he'd be crap at that too.
Maybe Dave is paving the way for a new EU referendum? He's good at those.

According to PA Media, Suella Braverman has said:

It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as Home Secretary …. I will have more to say in due course.

That implies she is working on a blistering “resignation” speech, which is unlikely to be comfortable reading for Rishi Sunak.'
 | Can you have "a greatest privilege" twice?

Rishi Sunak - "Alright Dave. I've had the same Government for 13 years...". "Yeah, only had 5 new Prime Ministers, 8 new Home Secretaries, and 7 new Chancellors"....

A very appropriate metaphor of the danger of electing Labour - you're alluding to the fact that Vincent saved the day a little later after a decision of misguided and catastrophic stupidity? |

👀 Senior Conservative source tells me there is talk in parliament of a meeting of the New Conservatives group later today and agenda item is Suella leadership play.
