The board will have some overclocking capabilities but not many.

It was either Intel or the board manufacturers decided that only the Z87 and Z97 boards would get the full overclocking options, so just be careful with what you try and do as the board may not support it properly.

Yea read something along those lines. Managed to get 4.4ghz on air tho, so happy with that

Re: motherboard and CPU, what's best sub 200 bundle

Right, another update:
With the cruddy HSF I had I was getting 40+ idle and topping out on 70's full load.
Picked up an Arctic freezer i30, on air @ 4.5ghz, idle temps are at 23-25 across 4 cores and under load I'm gonna test in a bit. Used some MX-2 paste instead of the supplied MX-4.

Re: motherboard and CPU, what's best sub 200 bundle

Some advice needed.
The i30 gives idle temps of <25c when gaming it's mid 50's bearing in mind I have an 88w CPU that's overclocked to 4.5ghz with a v-core of 1.255v when running prime 95 I'm getting a power draw of 145.2w and CPU temps of well in excess of 95c with one core topping the 100c mark.
I used the small FFT's for maximum power testing for 30 minutes, had zero fails and dead stable.
Should I try custom instead?
