First off here "Chad" do try at your own free will; stop listening to mainstream media lies, as if I can say part of your reply looked like a piece from the paid pro-copyright PR lobbyists company. Just a thought
You must be joking me....I nearly choked on my own tongue The only way to cure this problem as I've said here more times than I've had hot dinners. (jokes welcome folks)
Problem: greedy media corporations sowing up the market, as they only a few in number which have greater controls of all media materials than in the past in present times in form copyright laws. They lobbied the government for it, I guess enough money filled brown envelopes was passed around the government boardroom over time to get the vote they wanted
The cure: open out the whole media model to a even playing field in rights in use as which PTB put the media market corporations. Which they wasn't even interested in so hence we have this stand off.

You can't govern the internet, it's to big to bring law & order to plus it's isn't the isp job to pick or choose who gets what on the internet as it was built around a free access model..hence free speech oh yes it's part of your human rights too funny thing.
Yes it's the slippery slope, the total take over to a "1984" style government on the internet. As with all things in the game of cat (government) + mouse (people) with one move from the government there another from the free mind liberal people the cancels out the previous opponents move to trap & kill off opposite countering side....just like chess you have to play it in a well thought out manner same here.
More these mega "media media corporations" push to try to close & corner the public down, more they will suffer....... lose in lost profits in all the operations they put out. As simply put it's only going one way; in the people favour when we all stand up against these mind media copyright thugs....just by simply not buying their products/services/not abiding to court orders plus pirating their material to rub there noses in it...more so if they make bigger profits. If they don't see sense which don't think it's going to happen in up in coming future. When that happens best the two sides draw out a even balanced business media model unlike now in present times.

Within the next 20 I fully expect it to be normal that anyone who uses the internet will need to login with their own unique login/passport or they don't get access. It would help governments to spy on everyone as well as let copyright owners pinpoint infringers exactly instead of to a shared home IP.
I expect sites of political groups like the EDL to be banned. The UKIP is lucky to have formed when it did as i'm pretty sure in the future they wouldn't be allowed to have a website under the 'inciting hate' type banner reason.

Re: Sky is blocking proxy sites...
toon, you do realise that the internet is provided by the mega-corporations, just like all the equipment that makes it work?
If it wasn't for the Telecoms companies, there wouldn't be an internet....

To clear this issue chad do you work for a corrupt lobbyist company? I mentioned this as it's word for word or some would say taking words out of a small mind brain washed hungry person mouth that works for a PR/lobbyist company that how it looks to me. Need I look more deeper? by not choosing to be direct more than divert the issue else where says a fair bit in anybodies mind Chad; no offence or flame.

Yes very much so, but it's not the "Telecoms companies" that are the problem beside spying on us & gathering data but that's different issue. It's the mega media corporations that are the problem as they started all this whole problem/mess off, they want the whole media market sown up tight but they haven't been able not yet but their trying in any form mainly copyright, which is a stupid issue in the first place.
They use courts to do there bidding, trying to force ISP's to set up LEO/LEA monitoring grid to police their customers little by little or through lobbied government laws that try to withhold our human rights in the name of profit though the powers that be won't say that.
I hope that answers your inquiry's Hugh
