Fact 1/ Overwhelming majority of recordings will be set using 'series link' (any school leaver could determine this - let alone god knows how many years study the Tivo has invested in it)

Fact 2/ If there is no series available (as per movie) then series link need not appear at all! (any grade one programmer knows this much too)

Haven't bothered reading rest of your post because you have made up your mind

Some of my recordings are set to default. So not everyone is changing all recordings

you're quite right - i mentioned this in my OP

and just to clarify what i meant by that

after selecting "series link" you should be whisked directly to the 'series link setting menu' (not via yet another menu)

the settings menu should already be pre-populated with your last used settings (end time + 5 mins max 10 episodes etc) - the cursor should already be focussed upon the "Use These settings" option - so unless you want to change any settings you just press "OK"

that would work much better than it does currently - and even better than V+ that has setting on a separate (less accessible) menu

I think what Jethro is saying is that he has asked programmers to improve their productivity. He previously advocated that all programmimg updates could be done in an hour and he now seems to have decreased this to 10 minutes.

Then you've sent yours back, right?

This from the man who wasn't impressed with it after only ten minutes

Please cite a source for this statement of fact or show the results for the poll you created asking everyone if that was, actually, what they did.

Either that or stop posting nonsense. On second thoughts, no. Keep posting your rubbish. It's very funny

But they are, because JethroUK says so

Wouldn't that make it more complicated when I thought you wanted it less complicated? Surely only changing the defaults when necessary is a better way of doing it?

A good idea.

I modify the recording options on every recording I set ---- 'Keep At Most' to all Episodes and 'Keep Until' to Until I delete. It takes a matter of seconds and no biggie. I am in favour of keeping last used settings, but it's not going to make a fuss if that isn't implemented

Well we all know the earth is round 'cos we've all seen pictures of it.

I'm not desperate at all. I'm simply asking you to prove your statement of fact; ie that everyone always alters all their Series Links every time.

Erm... no. I know for a fact that it is true that not everyone always alters all their Series Links every time because I don't; and I'm not the only one.

If you wish to ignore me now you have been proved wrong then that says more about you than it does about me.

Re: Series link route is too lengthy!

I posted same suggestion on VM board which met with 100% support so far

Does suggest negativity is directed toward me and not the post - but i can take that on the chin

Re: Series link route is too lengthy!

I have been reading this thread since it started and apart from my previous post I have not posted on this thread. Can I just say 2 things:

1 - If you think that are too long then that is your opinion?

2 - If you think that they are OK that is you opinion?

It seems that day in and day out we are getting more and more threads descending in to almost character assassinations. Why can't just all agree to disagree, IMHO

I entirely agree. I even posted that I agreed with his idea of user-settable defaults for Series Links.

I was challenging his oft-spouted (and always wrong) assumption that "everyone" does is his way and therefore anyone who doesn't is automatically wrong.
