Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
Have you tried going back to basics, delete any port forwarding or triggering rules also remove your consoles IP from the DMZ and see if uPNP opens the necessary ports for you.
If they don't, slightly increase the advertisement to live in hops from 4 to something likw 10 or 11.
I don't get any problems with GT5 that I'm aware of, how does the lag become evident, is your car jumping across the screen, or have you noticed that the cars you race on line don't react the same way as in the game.
Also if you've not done this already, could you post your upstream and downstream power levels for the more knowledgable to have a look at.

i know my d/l pwr needs upping and the ul pwr needs to come down, im getting 90mb down and 8.00mb up
when you first boot gt5, when connected to psn, it takes about 25sec to 2 mins just for the main icon to become selectable, every load screen (say comming out of OUD to gt life or loading up the lobby) can take 25 secs to infinity, if its stuck on load screen press ps and disconnect, loads up right away with the not connected, do you want to connect? click yes and it starts over again, when your in an online lobby, for no reason it will disconnect and say you have disconnected form the server, if i manage to race its ok, no lag as in cars jumpin everywhere, its always smooth, just out of the blue it can disconnect, as well i get not network compatible when connecting to lobbys sometimes, if i want the game to load quick i have to keep it disconnected and then whats the point, im a big online gamer
tryed resetting the SH god knows how many times with different combos (even dmzing my old router and connecting to that) with no luck, ive been though virgin (who say they dont support ps3 and vmdhs who will do what ive done and scratch heads and say we cant fix it
ive tryed 2 ps3 with the same results cleared all my cache in gt5, even reinstalled hdd data, nothing, wireless and wired still the same fault

Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
Your downstream power level is as near perfect as you'll get. As long as the upsream power is stable at 53.4 then that's OK too.(so you don't know what you think you now!).

Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
really
ive been told the dl pwr should be around 1.0+ and the ul pwer to be 35-55 (you said that). pritty near the limit ant it, because i can only get 8mb, so wise one, why is my upload limited to 8mb
i know my ps3 dont like this SH or am i wrong with that as well???
why not try and help solve the prob, google superhub and the ammount of problems comming up its putting off future 100mb cust
---------- Post added at 10:24 ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 ----------
just come off the phone to retentions and a nice lady did comfirm that gamers are downgrading to 10/20mb to enable tham to have constant uninterupted streaming
shes booked me a teck to come out with a modem tho i dont hold my breath it will be the old 50mb modem
tip of the day if you p2p or usenet then go for the superhub, if your a gamer on pc, ps3 or xbox then avoid like the plauge, wish i had

Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
Have you tried disallowing the game to boot from start up?
Then allowing your console to boot up, sign in as usual to PSN then when its finished loading all your friends online status, then boot the game up.
Did you say you had installed the complete game onto your HDD, took me about an hour ish.
Some of your problems sounds like NAT issues, but I've noticed occasionally GT5 online can be flaky, not just for me but my friends also (on BT BB)
Have you tried allowing the console to connect in "auto" mode because I found messing around with it can make it worse, especially with things like duplex, mtu, etc etc.
Do you tend to play with the same friends a lot, if so have you tried hosting or letting someone else host just in case one of your friends has the NAT issue.
Just a few things youve probably already tried, but just for kick's is there anything interesting mentioned in your modem log.
Have you made sure all the connections are done up nice and tight on the coax from outside to inside, I've noticed some engineers have a habit of leaving them finger tight (soz guys but its true)
Have you tried different ethernet cables
The funny thing is I had some of your issues with Black Ops as in it would take an age to sign into the BO servers, 5 to 10 mins but since I changed to the SH that aspect has been fine.
Good luck

Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
nothing in logs, and the usual stuff in event logs
the console never boots up into game, like to have alook as psn store before i go into hours of gaming tho i have notice since on SH it takes about 10 secs more to login
black ops is no go (thats black ops server or coding)and yes i know gt5 ant perfect but when im having probs (all the time though the SH) other people dont suffer, i play people on my buddy list as well as going though the lobby and finding a game, ive hosted and others have hosted, it can be fine for an hour (if im lucky) or it can be disconnecting and timing out on what ever i do, even when hosting my own game sometimes no one can connect to me (says incompat net work) when they are having no probs
the thing it, when i was on 50 mb it was fine, if it played up real bad i would just connect it though the modem and it would be fine (dont say have you tryed rebooting, it seems all i do is reboot my ps3)
though the super hub its playin up all the time, its all auto and ive tryed manually setting as well on the ps3 side
all my coax are spot on (wouldnt be that anyway as the modem side is stable)
could you give me your settings for the SH you use, ill reset mine and try them out again

Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
All I've ended up doing is putting everything back to normal, by that I mean deleted port forwarding for the PS3, made sure uPNP was still switched on in the SH, increased the advertisement to live hops from 4 to 11 in the SH, and let the PS3 connect in auto.
Turned off the SH once I'd made the changes for 30 secs then rebooted it, then booted up the PS3 and it seems ok to be honest.
Just out of curiosity how much Jitter do you get from http://pingtest.net/
Have you got any FP attenuators on the SH

Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
I tried out GT5 last night and it played online fine and connected pretty quickly too.
My Superhub is setup as standard and the only thing I did was to turn off the firewall and IP flood detection.
I have had no online gaming issues at all and regularly play Black Ops online.
To say that gamers should avoid the superhub is a bit over the top. Not everyone is having the problems you seem to be having.

Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
no attenuators on the coax, ping test i get an f unless i turn off ip flood and or firewall
well it maybe over the top, but if thats the case why are vm downgrading gamers who suffer with this prob,
before i upgraded it was fine, now theres something wrong and its since i got the SH, im retrying the settings you have both use, see if that corrects it
dont get me wrong i would use the SH if you didnt have to disable security features to reduce jitter, open ports or block ports dont behave like it should (if you put the setting in it dont make a difference ) as well netgear routers cant handle jumbo frames and has a small nat
when you have lots of things connected they tend to do strange things, i could live with this, i cant live with gt5 how it is atm thats why im asking to go back to 50mb modem and downgrade to 50mb

Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
Not sure what is up with your superhub then, I have been using mine problem free since September and I always have an iMac, PC, Windows Laptop, xbox360, PS3, iPad, HTC Desire connected to the superhub and have had no connection issues and no problems gaming on the consoles.

Downstream power should be between -7 and +7. Around 0 is slap bang in the middle of optimum range.
Upstream power should be between 35 and 55. Again that is optimal range, not the limit. The limit is higher and equipment can can still work anywhere between 25 and 62 or more

Not everyone is having the same perfect experience as you either, though the fact that you had to turn off two built-in security features that were on by default to get an acceptable experience suggests something is wrong with the firmware by design.
Judging by most of the complaints I've seen so far it appears to be more a quality control issue with some units working fine and some units giving endless problems. Still, saying "mine works" doesn't really help people since most people here are complaining because theirs *doesn't*.

Re: 100mb Superhub I REGRET UPGRADING
Right, done some testing (Online Gaming ) and this is what i did, used reset button, then turned off ipf and fwall, then changed upnp hoops from 4 to 11, had no router connected, just PC and PS3, and it worked for hours, so plugged my router in and put all PC though the second router, but PS3 still through SH Wifi, worked for about an hour, then had the same GT5 probs, so i unplugged the router, still nothing, Reset SH and it worked again,
anyway looks like i can live with this for now, tho i would still like a modem as then theres no dodgy box with an intermittent fault, yes it will probably be replaced on monday (vm comming out) but i know it will be the same because netgear routers are like choc fire guards, just hope they get the modem update right if i dont get a modem
