you have not got rid of a bottle neck you have improved one.
There is a storage type in developement called racetrack memory. Electrical charge moves the data up and down the carrier rather than a spinning disk. It was a while ago I read about but the speeds were stupid quick
Eventually there will be what they call universal memory where there will no more ram in between and a direct bus from the cpu to the storage then when you hit your switch it will just be on. Its possibly not even that far away.
The bottle neck you talk of is just as much the bus as the storage media
