No, they lost votes and seats in 2001.
Thatcher increased her number of seats in 1983 but on a slightly lower vote. The Tory vote in 1987 was only fractionally lower. In fact, from 1979 to 1992 the Tory vote only shrank by 2 percentage points. Labour's vote fell 8 percentage points between 1997 and 2005.
It is generally true that a multiple-term Government will have its highest share of the vote at the beginning of its first term and lose it in each subsequent election until they are eventually out of office.
There's a good historic vote share graph here:

Is Ed going to christen them Not So New Old Labour then?

Re: Miliband's Marauders?....
Don't think this gov will last a full term, don't think any coalition has went the distance, and it won't matter what school;the incoming Labour gov members went too, we wont see the tories or their fags, for another decade(at least). Mind you,a bit of boundary changing might help.(article in the Daily Gutterpress)

I had hoped you were going to keep to your stated intention of ceasing to post on this forum.
- not really a problem, I was just expecting to avoid the hassle of placing you on ignore.
- sorted, now, though, goodbye

Ya. Getting his just reward for picking the right team. Plenty of material to be worked with.

Re: Miliband's Marauders?....
I like the fact that Ed Milliband has to choose from a small selection of chosen MPs rather than choose the best people for the job.
I like the fact that Kahn is perhaps the most ludicrous choice of Justice secretary ever.
I like the fact that the PLP really really don't have a clue.
