I was going to go into Costco on saturday and pick up the 42inch panasonic plasma THXPv20 or g20 (I think) - £720 offer inc VAT. I can probably go upto 50inch.

plasmas are expensive to run as they use a lot more power than lcds even the newer mor eeconomical to run ones

There are some plasma's that use about the same for example my 42" 1080p plasma uses 250w and my dads 40" 1080p lcd uses 240w, but i prefer plasma as they give a better picture than lcd or led or even led backlit tv's, i thought it was funny when i had people saying to me over xmas when i was working in comet, saying they want a tv and they want the best picture for x amount of money at 40"+ and, i would tell them go for a plasma they would then say no chance the picture isn't as good.
We had 2 tv's setup showing the same blu-ray disc one tv was a 50" plasma the other was a 50" led backlit, and as soon as they saw it they always chose the plasma as they, have better colour's sharper picture and no smearing of fast paced movement's that lcd and led backlit tv's have.
Still 3d tv's are not worth the money yet as there is nothing out there to utilise it fully yet for everday use, unless your going to watch the same thing all the time every day.

I currently have a 50 inch Plasma TV, a Panasonic Viera TX-P50C10B, I Also have a Blu-Ray Player which is Panasonic and a Surround Sound System (5.1), I Also have a Wii and Sony PS3 Rigged up to this.
My Dilemma is this.........

If you want to buy it, you should now.
RUMOURS around the internet are that model (PSc7000) is being discontinued as the company that makes the REAL Black Filter cannot meet demand and so Samsung has terminated the contract and it's being replaced by a PSc6900 model for copyright reasons. Everything is the same just the filter.
Alot of regular folk will say it's just a filter, the way the sun shines on it and so on, but the filter does make a big difference.
And a 3D TV will give you a better 2D picture.

Re: 3d tv
Plasmas use more electricity. Its the foundation of making plasmas do what they do.
The comment about using similar electricity to LCDs is false as the screen gets brighter it will use more electricity to 'excite' the cells.

Re: 3d tv
the electricity use of an LCD is constant whereas an LED backlit one and indeed a plasma is variable.

Re: 3d tv
To be honest I'm not bothered about the running cost, I want to know which gives me the better picture, especially for watching sports.

Re: 3d tv
Does anyone know where I can view more trailers similar to this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJjJe...456&feature=iv
If you havent seen it with glasses then seriously........you should, but i'm looking for more like this, quality wise.
PS - Ive ordered my TV, 63" with 3D blu Ray, and 4 pairs of shutter glasses, do I regret it? Nope.
At the end of the day its TRUE that not a huge amount of content is available in 3D yet, but for gaming theres enough to keep me busy until next year when there is more movies, games, and HD Sky TV broadcasts.
Ty for all your opinions.

Ouch, Harsh words, and from a Cable Forum Member too, as it happens I dont live in Wilmslow anymore, and I've never professed to having a lot of money either, or having family members that do.

Re: 3d tv
Sorry, it was meant to be a wry observation, not a verbal hand grenade
£6 grand really is an awful, awful lot of dosh for a telly though. I do hope it's worth it!
