I had similar problems with my Iphone and Linksys WRT54gs, in the end I entered the following static settings and it's worked ever since

IP Address 192.168.1.109
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Router 192.168.1.1
DNS 4.2.2.2

Might be worth a try before you spend money on another router.
Out of all the "solutions" I found on the internet this was the only one that worked for me.

I had the same problem with my lynkes

After much tinkering I ran the router with out protection, run my iphone made sure it connected to the router for an hour or so with no protection then I did my password protection, all works fine now found it and stays connected.

Sorry mate the linksys WRK54G isnt supported on dd wrt
