Which neatly brings us around to non-PC language offences. The punishments are worse than this new law.

They are a species of Fairy.

Not that I believe in Fairies ofc, but there are two Fairy Rings within 3 miles of my house.

Re: Time for a secular Ireland?

It beggars belief that in this day and age a supposed modern democracy can introduce a backwards law that belongs firmly in the dark ages, unbelievable!!!

Considering the long, and very strong ties between the catholic church and the state in the repubic, then this sort of law isn't really that surprising tbh....

Re: Time for a secular Ireland?

I think this is a stupid law, but what happened to some posters' viewpoints on other threads about "their country, their law"?

It's different when it comes to religion. Don't ask how, it's just different

Any hint of "leave Ireland to sort out its own affairs" leaves people worryingly close to sounding like they're validifying religion and oooooh, we can't be having that.

It's because they're the Irish, and not the Welsh

I'd say its more to do with the fact that many people don't like the idea of religion being protected by the political elite, this is precisely the sort of thing you'd expect to see in the undemocratic Middle East, not a member of the EU.
