Looking at the marks in the first photo on the link appear to be pretty standard residual marks left by handcuffs if the person in them struggles. I've been handcuffed enough times (whilst working before the usual comments) to know they aren't designed for comfort.
Anyway 60k for a beating. Not bad considering a soldier losing both legs and needing medical care for the rest of his life gets about 150k.

I'm not arguing about the level of compensation. The level of compen wouldn't have arisen at all if the accused hadn't been subjected to improper treatment.
I have sympathy for officers who don't engage in such activities because there is a large section of society who tag all policeman as being thugs in uniform. Episodes like this only re-enforce that attitude.
