Re: How to link my DVD recorder to the V+ box

When you say 'ext1' and 'ext2', I assume you mean on the TV remote? If so, it is working as expected.

The V+ is connected directly to ext1 on the TV, and this is how you'd normally watch TV from the V+. You can also watch it on ext2 (as you were doing yesterday), but in this case the signal from the V+ is going via the DVD and the picture quality may not be as good. It doesn't really matter which you use though. Just make sure you select ext2 when you want to watch a DVD, if it doesn't select automatically.

ps. Welcome to the forum!

Re: How to link my DVD recorder to the V+ box

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I dont think im explaining it right. Normally Virgin is on HDMI1, yesterday when i switched it to Ext2 Virgin was showing on the extension the DVD recorder was using. Today when I switch it to ext2 its the DVD channel and its just white snow. I tried going through ext 1 and went through the menu and started it recording, pressed record on the DVD player and it just recorded snow? For some reason Virgin is showing like you said in a worse quality on ext1 but the DVD is ext2 and its just recording snow, yesterday you could see the virgin menu on ext 2 today nothing?

I hope that makes sense x

Re: How to link my DVD recorder to the V+ box

Oh, OK. First check all the SCART plugs are pushed in properly.

It's a bit confusing as both the TV and DVD have ext1 and ext2. But as long as you have wired it exactly as in the second diagram...

To record a DVD from the V+, use the DVD remote to select the DVD's ext2 input.
To play back a DVD, use the TV remote to select the TV's ext1 input (but this may happen automatically when you press play on the DVD)

Does that help?
