Further, with the loss of the analogue signal for terrestrial TV in what, 2012? I don't see it being introduced.
Actually, traditional teletext is available on digital cable TV (in Langley areas at least) on some channels (music channels, etc.). It is perfectly possible to transmit traditional teletext via digital cable and digital satellite on all channels as it is just part of the video signal (that is not displayed on the TV).

The reason that traditional teletext is not available on the standard channels (1-5) is that it is not technically possible to transmit on DTT and Virgin get these feeds from the local Freeview signal (hence no teletext). I am fairly certain that there are some teletext pages available on the national variants of BBC as these come from a satellite feed instead.
