If I could, I'd stick cameras to catch the idiots who do this.
They can ruin a whole streets net connections by tampering with those boxes.
Well that's the problem, they're young and stupid. One time the DP at the end of my street had about 5 lads round it trying to open it, so I asked what they were doing, this whihc they said they were going to cut off the streets telco, digi and bb. "So, you know that this will also take yours off too don't ya mate?" I said. To which they gave it a couple of kicks and ran off.

They simply have no common sense about how expensive these actually are and what it is they could do if they manage to get it open.

.....the one at the end of my street is a rare one, it has two locks still intact

Re: Street Cabinet

I was thinking today and although people would probably make a big fuss over it as they'd think its real, it would be good if they could put stickers on the cabinets saying that there is a danger of electrical shock or chemical poisoning or something. Might make them less likely to try to open them then.

Re: Street Cabinet

Very true.
In that case, lets ask NTL to build a huge green box. Wait for kids to break into it, and then lock them in and throw away the key.

sweaty is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Street Cabinet

Where i work they are all unlocked and just lift off. The old cabletel area is the worse but the old C&W areas are the best. Well maintained and laid out. Seems they invested a little bit more...
