The British Horseracing Authority has announced details of its tougher policy on anabolic steroids, including a 14-month ban for any horses found to have been administered the drugs.

High-profile cases involving Mahmood Al Zarooni and Gerard Butler hit the headlines last year, and the BHA has strengthened its stance with a zero-tolerance approach on steroids.

Australia will emulate his parents if he manages to follow up his win at Epsom in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh.

A son of the brilliant Galileo out of Ouija Board, he is bred to win Classics and after falling just short in the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket he lived up to his promise in the Investec Derby, never looking in any trouble.

Both Galileo in 2001 and Oaks heroine Ouija Board three years later managed to pull off the English-Irish double, and Australia is a long odds-on shot with the bookmakers to provide trainer Aidan O'Brien with his 11th win in the Curragh showpiece.

Australia gave trainer Aidan O'Brien an amazing 11th triumph in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh as he landed the odds with almost ridiculous ease.

Winner of the Investec Derby at Epsom on his previous start, the colt followed in the hoofprints of his sire Galileo, who took both prizes in 2001, and his dam Ouija Board, who landed the Epsom and Irish Oaks in 2004.

Angel Gabrial justified strong support to give North Yorkshire trainer Richard Fahey his first John Smith's Northumberland Plate success at Newcastle.

Apprentice George Chaloner produced his mount to head the long-time leader Ardlui inside the final furlong and complete a Gosforth Park treble for Fahey.

The 4-1 favourite veered to the right close home, but he had plenty in hand as he reversed Chester Cup form with Suegioo (12-1), giving owner Dr Marwan Koukash a one-two in this prestigious two-mile handicap.

Thistle Bird dispelled any stamina concerns as she landed a commanding Group One success in the Newbridge Silverware Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.

The 4-1 shot's previous seven wins had come at a shorter distance, but she stayed the mile and a quarter in no uncertain terms as she took the honours for trainer Roger Charlton and jockey George Baker.

Last year's winner Ambivalent tried to lead all the way but was stalked by Venus De Milo, who went on early in the straight, though the move was covered by a confident Baker as Thistle Bird made eyecatching progress to lead a furlong out and win tidily by two and three-quarter lengths

Night Of Thunder has been given the go-ahead for Saturday's Coral-Eclipse at Sandown after impressing trainer Richard Hannon with his well-being.

It will be the Saeed Manana-owned colt's first attempt over a mile and a quarter after his three battles with Kingman over shorter distances.

Integral, an impressive winner of the Duke of Cambridge Stakes in Berkshire, will return to Group One level in the Falmouth Stakes on July 11, while convincing Duke of Edinburgh Stakes scorer Arab Spring is set to test the water at Pattern level for the first time in the Princess of Wales's boylesports.com Stakes a day earlier

No decision has yet been made over whether Investec Oaks first and second Taghrooda and Tarfasha will clash again in the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh on July 19.

Both fillies are owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum, with Taghrooda trained by John Gosden and Tarfasha in the care of Dermot Weld.

Taghrooda came out on top in style at Epsom but on home territory Tarfasha may be a tougher nut to crack - unless the ground is soft which would place her participation in doubt.

Night Of Thunder steps up to a mile and a quarter for the first time in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown Park.

The 2000 Guineas hero engaged in a fascinating rematch with Newmarket runner-up Kingman at Royal Ascot, but he was clear second-best in the St James's Palace Stakes.

Connections are confident the extra distance is within his compass, with his trainer Richard Hannon telling Racing UK: "He's the sort of horse you don't really notice, and I think that's what will stand him in good stead for Saturday - the fact that he is so relaxed and he's very economical when he races. He gives himself every chance of staying a mile and a quarter."

Gosden dominates in Oaks.

John Gosden dominated the bet365 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock Park as Pomology beat stablemate Sultanina.

Both fillies were unbeaten going into the Group Two race, but all Pomology's three wins came last season, while Sultanina had not run at two and three yet won both her races this year.

The result looked signed and sealed some way out, as Pomology (8-1) was cantering all over the opposition two furlongs from home and eased into the lead before being pushed out by Graham Lee to beat Sultanina by two and a quarter lengths.

Sea superb in German Derby.

Sea The Moon preserved his unbeaten record as he put up a scintillating show to land the German Derby in Hamburg by 11 lengths.

Christophe Soumillon had the Markus Klug-trained colt smartly out of the stalls to overcome a poor draw, and grabbed the rail.

The son of Sea The Stars quickened from the front as they began the turn into the straight and then hared across the track to the near-side rail on his own, but such was his dominance that Soumillon could enjoy a casual look over his shoulder to see the opposition blown away.

Bin Suroor salutes legend Lammtarra.

Saeed bin Suroor led the tributes to Lammtarra, the unbeaten winner of the Derby, King George and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 1995 who died on Sunday at the age of 22, as he described the Classic hero as a horse who will be "remembered forever".

Trained by the late Alex Scott as a two-year-old, he won the blue riband at Epsom in the care of Bin Suroor after Scott was murdered in September 1994, a month after the son of Nijinsky had won the Washington Singer at Newbury.

A horse that brings back many good memories of old.
