Rock gets verdict in Trial.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sun
Quote:
Dermot Weld can dream of adding the Investec Derby to his long list of big-race victories after Fascinating Rock booked his ticket to Epsom during a Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial that was ultimately settled in the stewards' room at Leopardstown.

Avenir charts successful path.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Mon
Quote:
Avenir Certain was produced with a devastating late run by Gregory Benoist to claim an impressive victory in the Poule d'Essai Des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) at Longchamp.
But there was an anxious wait for connections before the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained filly was confirmed the winner after a lengthy stewards' inquiry quickly, with the placings ultimately remaining unaltered

Dettori eyeing Lockinge Glory.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Mon
Quote:
Frankie Dettori is raring to go on Olympic Glory in the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
Richard Hannon has also left in Al Shaqab Racing-owned stablemate Toronado, as well as Montiridge, but seems likely to rely principally on his Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner.
Olympic Glory will be ridden by Dettori in his role as number one jockey to Sheikh Joaan Al Thani

Cambridge takes plunge in Musidora.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Wed
Quote:
Charlie Hills is eagerly anticipating the return to action of Cambridge in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York on Wednesday.
The once-raced filly won a Nottingham maiden on her only start as a juvenile, beating Ralph Beckett's Regardez, a subsequent winner who she will meet again on the Knavesmire. Talked up throughout the winter as an Investec Oaks contender, the Khalid Abdullah-owned Cambridge now has to prove herself on the track.

Madame delights in Musidora.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Wed
Quote:
Madame Chiang was produced with a well-timed challenge by Kieren Fallon to maintain her unbeaten record in the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York.
David Simcock's filly was an 8-1 shot for her first start since making an impressive debut at Yarmouth last October, taking a significant step up in class for this recognised trial for the Investec Oaks at Epsom next month.

Magical Maarek strikes York gold.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Wed
Quote:
Maarek gave weight and a beating to some talented sprinters as he got off the mark for the year in the Duke of York Clipper Logistic Stakes.
The seven-year-old was carrying a 5lb Group One penalty for winning last year's Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp when trained by Barry Lalor, whose former assistant Evanna McCutcheon now trains the gelding in her own right.

Game Ambivalent takes Middleton.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Thu
Quote:
Last year's runner-up Ambivalent went one better in the "Betfred Ł10 Million Scoop6 This Saturday" Middleton Stakes at York.
A Group One winner last season in Ireland, she ran a storming race at Meydan in March when third in the Dubai Sheema Classic against the boys. Trainer Roger Varian had targeted this race since her return to Britain and Andrea Atzeni was happy to make the running.

Re: Horse Racing
Choir hits winning note.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Fri
Quote:
Gospel Choir justified favouritism when edging out chief market rival Tac De Boistron in the Sky Bet Yorkshire Cup at York.
Winner of the Jockey Club Stakes last time out, Sir Michael Stoute's five-year-old was stepping up in trip under the unstoppable Ryan Moore and was sent off at 7-2.
Moore was keen not to hit the front too early and plenty held chances with a furlong to run, but Gospel Choir took over and went a length clear. Tac De Boistron, racing on ground faster than he prefers and over a trip short of his best, came from out of the pack and was closing with every stride to get to within a neck. It was a further half-length to Tiger Cliff.

Colic surgery for Wise Dan.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Sat
Quote:
America's Horse of the Year Wise Dan has undergone emergency surgery for a bout of colic.
The seven-year-old gelding, trained by Charles LoPresti, has won 20 of his 27 starts including two Breeders' Cup Miles.
He won his last race as recently as May when holding off the former John Gosden inmate Seek Again in the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic, but reportedly showed signs of the ailment after a routine piece of work on Friday morning.

Lockinge glory for Dettori.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Sat
Quote:
Frankie Dettori rocketed to the 200th Group One success of his career as he guided Olympic Glory to an impressive triumph in the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
Given a patient ride with Montiridge and Top Notch Tonto racing prominently, the Richard Hannon-trained colt was produced to perfection widest of the runners over a furlong out by the Italian jockey, who was partnering his fourth Lockinge winner.

Sheikh Joaan boost for IJF.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sun
Quote:
Jack Berry House, the Injured Jockeys Fund's second rehabilitation centre, received a significant boost following the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury as winning owner Sheikh Joaan Al Thani donated his prize-money from the Group One contest.
The gesture comes as a kick-start to an initiative for the win and place prize-money from 20 of the horses owned under the Sheikh's Al Shaqab Racing banner to go to the IJF this season.

Light shines on Crop comeback.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sun
Quote:
Leading Light made the perfect start to his four-year-old campaign with a clear-cut victory in Navan's Coolmore Vintage Crop Stakes.
The Ladbrokes St Leger hero was running for the first time since finishing down the field in the Arc at Longchamp in October and took closer order behind the front-running Royal Diamond with a half a mile to run.
With the latter sticking to the far rail, Joseph O'Brien's mount came down the middle in company with Pale Mimosa, and the even-money favourite loomed large two furlongs out. When asked, Leading Light responded sweetly and went nicely clear in the final 200 yards to win with three lengths in hand from Royal Diamond, who kept on well to take second.
