Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
So what do people think of this then, if it's true?
A Rugby Union coach being involved with proper football?

It will be interesting to see what Woodward's role will be, although I had to smile when I read this bit.........
Quote:
But Redknapp threatened to resign if Woodward interfered with team selection.

Liverpool v TNS in the qualifying stages of the Champion's league - what a bumper payday in store for TNS if they can manage a draw at Anfield

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
Just watching the Premiership Years and a reminder of what a great bloke Brian Clough was. He'd just got out of his car and a reporter shouts "Can we have a word Brian". "No" he shouts "but thanks for asking" Football could certainly do with some more managers like him

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
they also got away with tapping up Arnesen from Sprs because they payed out.. that is what is wrong with the FA and Premier League rules.. we all know they are gulty over this but unless Spurs complain nothing will happen..
what i'd do if i was Spurs is wait till they get the money then complain anyway

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
New owners reveal Man Utd plans
Quote:
"I hope they are reassured by our experience in sport," said Joel Glazer.
|
I dont think so
Quote:
Meanwhile pressure group Shareholders United is urging fans to place the money they receive for their shares from Glazer into a fighting fund.
The 'Phoenix Fund' will then be used to buy the club back from Glazer one day, according to the group.

For some reason i dont think this will work or make much difference

A quick Google revealed these, I have to say I don't remember most of them.
The following have gone directly from Liverpool to United:
Aug 1912 Tom Chorlton (Full Back)
Sep 1920 Tom Miller (Forward) £2000
Feb 1929 Tommy Reid (Forward)
Jan 1938 Ted Savage (Half-Back)
Nov 1938 Allenby Chilton (Half-Back)
The following have gone directly from United to Liverpool:
Nov 1913 John Sheldon (Forward)
May 1921 Fred Hopkin (Forward)
Feb 1954 Tommy McNulty (Full-Back) £7000
Apr 1964 Phil Chisnall (Forward) £25,000
As you can see, it is a select few.
Apart from Paul Ince I cannot think of any others to play for both
clubs. John Gidman and Ted MacDougall were
on Liverpools books but did not make the first team.
