rip off esp for those who dont even need new equipment to get the higher speeds.
why should we have to pay £25 for someone @ ntl to press a button.

Because it's their right to charge whatever they like.
Seems cheap to me considering you get upgraded for a flat £25 and the monthly cost remains where it is at present. You could have been just asked to pay more each month instead!!
I dunno.how dare NTL offer two upgrades in speed in 12 months for the added cost of ONLY £25.

a one off charge of £25 is very cheap compared to 3 years ago when NTL offered the 1mb product for a whopping £50 a month.

Look at it like this. NTL have spent tens of millions upgrading the network to give everyone one upgrade for free. Maybe they are under pressure to get some of that money back?
I am not sure if a £25 one off fee is a rip off. If they were charging £25 extra a month, it would be.

Don't bt charge for migration between packages anyway? And that, if going up would be an increase in price too

What about all the 'person hours' needed to check that everything will work when the roll-out occurs, not forgetting all those who will need a new STB (if you get your BB thru an STB that is) who want to go over 1M download.
If you pay for your service then by all means (if the normal channels of communication do not appear to be working) have a moan, maybe a helpful associate will pop in and help you sort your problem out.
But then again it's the usual crop of whingers and whiners who want it all for free.
The answer is quite simple if you don't like what's on offer then feel free to 'shop around' and change to another ISP. According to what is posted in this board (mostly in the 'I'm going to XXXX ISP if NTL don't give me yyyy posts) alone there are plenty around who will give you what you need.
BTW don't let the door smack you on the backside on the way out

We pay ntl for the service if they want to upgrade it they should upgrade it for everybody whos equipment can handle the new speeds
i can understand a admin fee if you need new kit as then a techie has to test it deliver it .etc but an admin fee to upgrade the speeds that new customers will be getting anyway...
im not even overly worried about the cap...

Err "whingers" have a right to express their views, whether you agree with them or not. Take the death penalty for example, yes it only affects people that comit serious crimes, but it doesn't mean everyone would want to live in a country where it's an option. We also live in a country where everyone has a right to an opinion.
edit: yes I know this a private forum before someone pipes up.

Re: [Merged] *ALL* Speed Upgrade Discussion In Here Please
Get real dudes! If NTL announced you could pay a one off £25 to jump from 300k< 1mb, 750< 2mb or 1.5mb< 3mb before you knew about the speed 'upgrades' you would have been queuing to pay.......
The only thing they are guilty of I.M.H.O. is bad PR/marketing.
