Indeed it does, but if he keeps wasting it there will come a time when even Roman Abramavich says enough is enough.

More likley to be Jose doing the running me thinks. Despite what I have said I do think he is a top quality manager, I don't know what it is though, he may have it to easy there.

Oh I dont want him either ..We'll stick with Dowie for now
I do think Jose has a certain 'something' about him, I think he's pretty cool actually and he's real good in them tv adverts

well a few years ago we were linked with Colonel Gadafi
although I don't like what Roman has done at Chelsea i'm sure if someone pumped several million into Palace i wouldn't complain.. we might even get a decent stadium then

been reading in the papers that even the players are saying without Rooney we can't win the WC this year.. says alot about how we view our prospects there
i reckon without Rooney and with Owen prob not fit either we should take AJ. he's the same sort of player as Owen and has his pace and skill and is far better than Crouch.. if we just have to rely on him we have no chance
will prob end up with Crouch, Defoe, Bent and if he fit Owen.. if Owen isn't fit AJ is the perfect shoe in for his role if Sven can see it
at least now the friendly games we have coming up will be interesting

probably not, but we cant know for sure.
Would chelsea have won those 2 titles with the russian? no because they probably would still have that italian manager.
If jose was at chelsea and didnt have the budget he has now would he have won the title twice? no idea, I think anyone trying to answer this is not seeing the full picture.

same with man u and their players, if you was a villa fan or anyone else with a much lower wage bill I would believe you but considering a man u fan who do have the highest wage bill by the way I cannot see your point at all.

I agree it is disgusting that the players consider England a one man team there are world class players through out and they do themselves a dis-service by making comments like that, could you imagine a Brazillian saying that if Rohnaldiniho was out of course not and besides if we can't get past the likes of Paraguay, Sweden and Trinidad without Rooney then we don't deserve to win anything.

In my opinion it illustrates the lack of strength in depth in the England team, due to the large numbers of foreign players in the premiership.
Pretty much the same as Euro 2004, when Rooney didn't play, Beckham wasn't fit & we got knocked out by Portugal - who were beaten by Greece, in the final.

I just hope they get their minds right and aren't beaten before they have kicked a ball.

true, but over confidence can be just as dangerous - at little self doubt may make them try harder ???

Indeed, I was listening to the radio the other day and a pundit was asked about Sven's plan B now Rooney is out, he put forward the case for Peter Crouch and ended by saying that the one draw back to him is that the opposition know what to expect, I beg to differ a guy who is about nine foot tall and can't head the ball, that is the last thing they will be expecting.

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
read some comments from Gerrard saying without Rooney we don't have much chance which isn't the right attitude to take
anyone know the latest on Owen ? will he be able to make it
fraid i don't rate Crouch as he has no skill on the ground and can't head it either and at international level think most defences can cope with that easily..
at the moment we need Sven to try something out during the three friendlies we have coming up.. what we need is for Sven to have the team he wants to play in those matches but change the strikers around.. try playing Defoe and Crouch or AJ and Defoe.. it's pointless to change 10 players at HT as you don't get to see how the new faces fit in with the core of the team

Apparently they don't want to take to many unfit players so it looks bleak for Owen.
Personally I would like to see Shaun Wright-Phillips given ago, I seem to remember Kieron Dyer play very well as a support striker and Shaun is even quicker and trickier than him, I think he and Defoe would scare teams as well as being a relative unknown quantity for foreign teams.
