Re: Formula 1 2008 Season
Due to dread of the Beeb getting the coverage I've not paid any attention. So the chain is coming back? Any other news like who is presenting?

Re: Formula 1 2008 Season
Phew, that was something else.
Pleased Martin Brundle is still to commentate, but then I guess he needs the money now DC has retired.
Bring on the BBC, ITV was the worst thing that happened to f1.

And we'll see F1 in high definition on BBC with a 9hr a day non-simulcast channel when precisely? I think this is sadly a point people have missed. BBC just couldn't give a monkeys about it. BBC HD had a splurge of the olympics and paraolympics but other than that has been a sports desert of late.

I dunno, but there will be no adverts oh, and I don't have a spare 9 hrs to sit and watch it, just want to watch the race.

Re: Formula 1 2008 Season
Lack of adverts has got to be the major bonus of F1 coverage going to the BBC.
Ad breaks in F1 has got to be up there with the daftest concepts ever dreamed up.

Re: Formula 1 2008 Season
Not really fussed about adverts but picture quality is a big issue for me. Setanta is so bad I refuse to watch it, ITV isn't great either, BBC1&2 are better but still not good enough. One thing that has annoyed me over the years is how ITV treats some of the qualifying sessions by not putting them on live or pushing them onto other channels.

what set you off? setanta/itv are perfectly watchable. bbc channels not good enough? do you want raw uncompressed images or something?
The qualifying and races have been live for as long as i can remember. They have also done complete re-runs of the races that were in the early hours, eg japan and china, so you didn't have to watch it live to see everything. Can't remember any part not being on ITV1 either this year, and really, does it matter what channel it's on? Then again, if no channel is good enough for you, why do you care what is on?

Re: Formula 1 2008 Season
Erm, whilst it might be regarded as a bit non-mainstream my not being happy with BBC1/2 your idea of "setting me off" is out of order on setanta. Many, many people on both sky and cable complain about the picture quality on setanta, especially football. When I say I don't watch it, I really don't watch it. Some other people are exactly the same.
As for your comments about coverage, we had it for years on ITV on the north america races where they sometimes didn't show coverage live of qualifying and Uncle Bernie got miffed that particular year. Ever after there was the worry of whether they'd revert back to this or whether it'd be on ITV2/4 rather than ITV1 etc. The other thing about re-runs (not that I watch them) is that they were rarely consistent and sometimes on a completely different channels (especially qualifying).
