Not at all - just countering your balanced unbiased grown-up posting style. I think if you look at my posting history you'll find there is a certain category of people who I 'debate' with and sadly you fall in to that category.

I noticed some postcodes around here have not been upgraded according to the checker. I posted about it as this topic was about that. That is what people do on forums, discuss the topic.
Yet a certain member spouts off topic stuff about another company and its not questioned? We need a mod...oh wait

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
So it is off-topic to compare one company's issues/pro's/con's in comparison to another?
Interesting concept.....
btw, you were happy to use comparisons when you posted the Ofcom chart.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
A question here with regards to the double speed upgrades.
My parents are on a mates rate deal which currently gives them XL BB however they are only on 20mb and have a modem and router , they received a letter saying there speed would be doubled next month I believe. What will happen as there current kit won't be compatible will it ?

Keep trying Hugh....someone else mentioned that data and a question was asked regarding it. Am I not allowed to answer questions now? I am gobsmacked at how low some of you are reaching all because I posted that some custom, ers have not got their double speed upgrade...in a thread about double speeds.
Seriously, shouldn't you guys be burning witches somewhere and using a priest/mod to add authenticity to what you are doing?

Look - I am not anti Sky at all I am at this moment watching football on my I pad useing my parents in laws log in - its a great innovation. However irrelevent of the title of the topic, all and I mean all of your posts slag off VM.
I just feel the need to point out that Sky have their issues too but you do not appear to accept that even though there are various I hate Sky forums as I said in a previous post there are similar forums regarding VM.
Read this carefully - I AGREE THAT VM ARE NOT PERFECT - but neither are any of the other providers. The difference between me and you is that I do not go on ANY Sky forum telling people how crap they are.
Yes I have shares in VM but I also have them in Sky and I RESPECT THAT BOTH COMPANIES HAVE THEIR GOOD AND BAD POINTS!!!!

and end up on 60meg. you could possibly do it early by logging in to MyVirginMedia and checking if theres a self upgrade option.

I have that option posted on myvirginmedia (I'm also on 20 meg). As I understand it, If I get the upgrade before the area is speed doubled, I enter a new 12 month contract, But if I wait for the speed doubling to happen, I get the superhub sent, but no contract term increase. Though I was told by one VM rep that I would enter a new 12 month contract, even if I waited for the speed soubling. Very confusing.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
if you call in and ask for an early double then they apply a 12month renewal. theres no new contract if you do it through MyVirginMedia or if its done by VM without you requesting anything.

Thanks, that's interesting to know. I always tend to ring up to check web offers in case there are hidden things, such as loyalty discounts dissapearing, that you are not aware of until you get your next bill, or a new extended contract being added without that being explained on the website.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
self install or was a tech booking available?
@ passingbat - that normally works, not here though

Just to add you can call VM after the order process and ask for your mobile number to be added to the order so tracking info of the SuperHub delivery can be sent to you. All free and part of the service. I've never done the online order so I wouldn't know if theres an option during that process of upgrade. Tracking info may appear in MyVirginMedia once the SuperHubs processed, I'm not too sure. The text updates are useful though.
Also there may be a return sticker and instructions to return your old kit including power supply in the box your SuperHub comes in so open the box carefully so you can pin or seal it closed again. I think VM now use red clips instead of the stripback sticky thing. Just pull the red pins if there in and put the 2 new ones in located on one of the inside flaps when your closing the box with returns. If not pull the strip off as advised on the box tjen reseal pulling away the white tape under the open flap. You'll understand when you get the package.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
They said tech booking was the only option ,standard install was free and had to select two dates , however they charged for an early morning install which is weird as the standard install let them choose 8am-1pm.
