It's all about personal choice. I'd rather have access to the channels. That way I can choose whether to watch the channel or not rather than the TV provider choosing for me. As a boxing fan Trace Sports has been a bit of a gem in terms of boxing documentaries. Loaded TV also has live boxing once a month which is great. Neither channel is currently on Virgin, BT or Freeview and would be missed if I moved back from SKY.
This isn't aimed at you Andy however it looks like Virgin just can't get it right. Customers complained about the lack of new channels last year. This year Virgin have made a really impressive start, especially with HD, yet people still complain.

Not when I used it. You have to wait for something to fully download before you can select a start point. Not really on demand but that's a different argument. Skipping 5 minutes works well on the TiVo but I would love to have the 'View from...' option available on the Liberate boxes.

Sky+HD OD menu UI easier to find shows in my opinion

Don't know about this one but being able to play catch up content from the mini guide without waiting on the TiVo is one of the most used feature in our house. I don't understand how people find the TiVo slow, it definitely isn't.

There's only 1 option and its expensive without the HD pack.
Both have their pros and cons but the TiVo is a beast in comparison to a Sky+ box.

As far as I know all the Free to air channels need to pay Virgin to broadcast on Cable.
So maybe Virgin are added 'crap' channels like The Active Channel and The Africa Channel to help and pay the bills for channels like ITV2 HD to launch on Virgin Media.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 2.
What on earth is going wrong here....?
This time last year we were talking about everything except what's coming soon to VM, because nothing was coming soon. Now all hell has been let loose and there is a possiblity that after a mere 20+ years, cable will have a channel lineup comparable to Sky.
Who wants choice? Who wants half decent pvrs? Broadband that actually works, well, at least after midnight...What on earth is going wrong with UK cable? I even had a vm tech say good morning to me the other day, I almost walked into a lampost with the shock.
Disgraceful, I say. Shame I'm about to jump ship just as things are getting good.

Or maybe other people have different tastes. I'd take The Africa Channel over ITV2 or Universal any day.

I've only ever had one engineer who was a grump, they all have a million and one complaints about working for Virgin or their contractor but they're decent blokes.

If, as you say, Virgin can't get it right because whatever it does its customers still complain, perhaps it's time it started listening to its customers?
However, I don't subscribe to the view that Virgin can't win. They have a market leading stb, but it still requires some development and we're still waiting for the android version of the support app. They have a market leading on demand delivery system but we've seen a reduction in content with the loss of ITV, and at the same time they've failed to add anything significant from the likes of uktv. They have a market leading broadband product, but got the router all wrong.
Virgin can do well by concentrating on what they're good at, and not by thinking that the correct response to a new player in the pay TV market is to inflate the epg with "bloatware".
I want fast, reliable broadband. I want the best on demand library available. I want a good selection of pay TV channels, and I want the best technical kit to help me find the best content available on them . Virgin are in danger of forgetting what they're good at.

Indeed Chad it seems they are damned if they do and damned if they don't nowadays.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 2.
MB Opinion: Virgin Media channel lineup by July?
The way that Virgin are added new channels this year we may get the following lineup of Entertainment Channel by July:
000 - 155 as now.
156. Free Channel
157. FOX
158. FOX HD
159. E!
160. E! HD
161. SyFy HD
162. Universal HD
166. S4C (Red Button for English and Welsh audio)
167. TLC
168. TLC HD
170 - 178 as now.
180. Pick TV
181. Sky Livingit +1
185 - 198 as now.
NOTE: I do not work for Virgin Media so all the information on this post is base on rumours of channels set to launch so Virgin Media channels numbers given for that new channel (if it launches) is subject to change.

Channels are rumours until confirmed by Virgin Media or Virgin insiders.
Do we know what is set to launch on Virgin Media in April?
Until we see updated information from that poster on DS Forum saying that Universal HD and E! HD are not launching - they are both rumoured as set to launch.
