Can you clarify a few things:
1) do you have TiVo installed yet, or waiting for install?
2) are/were you on XL and L packages only as your profile suggests (i.e. not VIP)
3) did you just have the one V+HD box?
4) have you ever had multi-room?
Seems weird that mid range package users are being offered upgrade to free multi-room (i.e. TiVo plus V+HD)

Had the same offer. XL customer having Tivo installed this afternoon only ever had one box and never had multi-room before.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I agree with the other posters, don`t want to record, I want to watch some events live hence the great feature of the old boxes of reminders and switching channels when the program starts
Going to miss my reminders when TIVO is installed later

Before the V+ was around reminders were the only way to ensure you didn't miss a programme. Now we have multiple tuners and a large hard drive they really aren't needed. Also if its a show or event that you really want to see you shouldn't be forgetting about it just before it starts
If you desperately need a reminder that the news is on at 6 then there is something wrong :P its on that time everyday lol. However you could always set an alarm or calender reminder on your mobile phone?

VM need to listen to your customers, reminders is a popular feature from the posts on here. It is not a big issue for me personally but I can see why people want to watch live TV and simply want a reminder if they are watching something else.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Received the email below from Virgin this morning with regards to the 500gb Tivo. Just wondering if this deal is the same one they have already mentioned (£49 Tivo, £40 activation/install fee) or if it is going to be something new. I realise most people on this thread now have the 1tb version, so wouldn't have receveived this email.
It would be nice if they could cut out the activation fee, as it I can't afford the 1tb version of the box, so anything to help in todays current climate would be a bonus.
"Thanks again for entering our prize draw to win one of our amazing TiVo® boxes. We know you didn't manage to get a free box this time round, but we've got something up our sleeves that we think you'll like.
We're busy rustling up an offer just for you, based on our 500GB TiVo box. It holds around 250 hours of standard TV, and we're launching it in May.
So, keep your eyes peeled for our exclusive offer. We'll pop it in the post for you soon, with a unique offer code that you'll need to quote.
While you're waiting, take another look at all the amazing things that Virgin Media TV powered by TiVo can do".

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Well in my opinion reminders are an old redundant feature from before VM had a pvr and aren't needed. If there is something you rally really want to see, either record it or remember to watch it.
No doubt if there is enough people whinging about them VM and TiVo may consider adding them. TiVo doesn't have them so they would need to be added as a new feature.

Wasn't their rumours that the TIVO software would be downloaded to the Cisco VHD boxes , the lack of reminders would be a major setback on non PVR hardware.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Is anybody aware of the rationale used by VM when deciding who gets free multi-room and who doesn't?
My own guess is that those that are looking for a box swap are more likely to be given the offer than those that up-front ask to retain their original box.

So if a rumour on a forum about something that might or might not happen may or may not be true, it would be a major setback?....

"It's odd" is my comment (but does not necessarily represent Virgin Media's positions, strategies or opinions )
It has already been raised to TiVo as an issue. Meanwhile pause-stop is a easy workaround.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Hi Lee Mc,
I have Tivo installed and received this e-mail also. Reading it I think all those who entered draw for free Tivo will get this e-mail. Hopefully this will be a special offer and not what has been seen ie. £49 + £49 + £3. If it is VM will have more unhappy customers complaining on this site

Yes when Berkett himself stated certain boxes could receive the TIVO software , and were going away from the issue of reminders here

Thanks, happy to use the workaround while Tivo work on the more practical option of giving "stop" as a menu option!

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
First class install by the vm tech, took 22 minutes all in. Put the v+ box upstairs for me, premium hd channels swapped to the tivo ok. Have a play around with it tonight when the mrs has gone to bed.

Me too, placed my order online on the 12th, heard nothing from VM, called CS last night, no trace of order, passed round 3 different people and can't get the install slot previously agreed, which is dammed annoying as I have already booked a day off work. Also tried to tell me it would be £4 per month extra as I had to upgrade to the XL+ package (never heard of that before).
