Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
I'd imagine that 'always lower than BT' thing is probably for existing customers. Or i suppose they could have done an NTL, and changed the T&C's overnight while no-one was looking.

How about if you were with BT having moved from NTL but still had the NTL number? does anyone know the contact number for Talk Talk, this deal appears the one to go with, free broadband forever?

Sorry but the geek dominated days of broadband service are very much over now, and it's all about the price for most. Higher cost and quality services will exist of course, but the mass market is where the money is. Nerds running entire datacentres from their home connections and downloading the internet just aren't what ISPs want from their customers.
Been going that way for a while (Plusnet being the most noticeable example, prices dropping, shaping and capping, breaking from the previous 'enthusiast' market to becoming a full on pile high, sell cheap, mass market provider).
|
Bit of an assumption that their is only either people raping the connection 24/7 or people who want the lowest price no matter what.
Maybe their is people who dont rape it 24/7 but want something for under £50 with a cap of 3 figures and performs well at peak time. Yes it is possible to do.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
I suggest you use a different term than 'rape'.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
the LLU element will be switched on later this year or later but they are supposed to be providing the broadband via BT wholesale as a stop gap.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
I signed up on 13 April, phone will be up and running 4 May and Broad Band 9 June. Hopefully these dates will be adhered to. My exchanged is already enabled so should not be a problem.

no there isn't. There is an additional £10 per month IF you are on an exchange which they dont intend to local loop unbundle - you will find this out by doing their (talktalk) availability checker.
They haven't unbundled any exchanges yet (as far as I know) but anyone at an exchange which they intend to turn into LLU will be served by using bt wholesale until it is unbundled and the extra costs involved in doing this will be transparent to the customer - ie. carphoneywhorehouse will be providing it at a loss until they unbundle the exchange.
my advice is simple though, be very careful before thinking about taking this product as talktalk broadband is not liked by some!

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
I would expect it to be a good service for a short time 6-12 months maybe then the company will announce that they had unexpected demand and they have to either reduce the cap from 40gig to a lower number or some other detriment to the service.
I tried to edit my other post but there is no edit button for it now but wont use that term again sorry for anyone offended.

I was generalising. The majority want a cheap price on their service, a small contingent want to wtfpwn their connection as much as possible for moviez gamez and appz and to pay as little as possible, another contingent seek a higher quality of connection and are willing to pay a little more.
Sadly a company only needs to cater to the first group to do well financially. I'll be intereted in seeing how CPW react when BT come out with some better deals once Ofcom are off their back, and how they'll react to the challenge of Sky. Guess they're hoping getting there first and getting the contracts signed will work for them.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
Question: If we all have NTL phone lines, then how can we check availablity for this? Is it even possible to get this offer?
