Eagle runs free for impressive win
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Fri
Quote:
Free Eagle could hardly have been more impressive in winning the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden at Leopardstown.
The Dermot Weld-trained newcomer is bred in the purple as a half-brother to the filly Sapphire and looks to have inherited plenty of the family's ability.
Pat Smullen's mount shot clear when asked after straightening for home, forging five and a half lengths clear of Orchestra and Wexford Town at the line.

Re: Horse Racing
Gregorian (3/1) lowered the colours of Soft Falling Rain to win the Betfred Hungerford Stakes at Newbury.
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/r...ridges-the-gap
Quote:
The Group Two appeared to revolve around the Mike de Kock trained Soft Falling Rain who hadn't been seen since winning on the Dubai World Cup undercard at Meydan in March.
However the South African handler had warned that his four year old would come on for the run and that this seven furlong contest was a springboard to targets in the autumn but that didn't prevent punters from making him the 9/4 favourite.
Soft Falling Rain settled well enough at the head of affairs in a tactical contest in which the pace really only quickened as they passed the three-furlong pole.
Robert Havlin always had Gregorian well placed and the four year old - who had shown career best form this season having finished a close third in the Group One Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot - quickened well against the stands' side rail to take up the running inside the final furlong.

Morny never in doubt for No Nay
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sun
Quote:
American raider No Nay Never stretched his 100% record to three with a classy performance in the Group One Darley Prix Morny at Deauville.
Wesley Ward's speedy colt, winner of the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, flew out of the stalls and was soon in command under David Flores.
The juvenile, now running in the Coolmore colours, quickly shrugged off the attentions of Muharaaj and Jallota before seeing off the late bid of Vorda to win by a length.

Re: Horse Racing
De Kock pleased with Rain
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sun
Quote:
Mike de Kock expects Soft Falling Rain to improve for his run in the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
The South African trainer was delighted with the four-year-old's performance in running Group One-experienced Gregorian to a length and a half, despite the fact that he was suffering defeat for the first time in eight races.
It was Soft Falling Rain's first run since he won the Godolphin Mile at Meydan at the end of March and De Kock felt the race conditions were against his charge.

Re: Horse Racing
Toronado given York green light.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Mon
Quote:
Richard Hannon has confirmed Toronado will appear in Wednesday's Juddmonte International Stakes at York.
Jockey Richard Hughes was keen for the colt to try a mile and a quarter for the first time, and it was up to trainer Hannon and owner Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani to be in agreement too.
Toronado will be having a break from his sparring partner Dawn Approach, who beat him in both the 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot, but the score moved to two-one after a confident ride from Hughes in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

Afsare among Celebration contenders.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Mon
Quote:
Afsare could attempt to build on his recent Salisbury success in Saturday's Betfair Celebration Mile at Goodwood.
Luca Cumani's gelding, who was second in last year's Arlington Million, has had well-documented issues with the stalls but showed his undoubted ability when coasting clear in last week's Group Three Sovereign Stakes.
Cumani confirmed his charge an intended starter and said: "Afsare has come out of Salisbury in good form and is likely to run in the Betfair Celebration Mile."

Boulevard primed for Gimcrack run.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Tue
Quote:
Wilshire Boulevard is an intended runner for Aidan O'Brien in Saturday's Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes at York.
Ballydoyle only confirmed one juvenile in the 11-strong field in the shape of the Holy Roman Emperor colt, who needed three goes to get off the mark but took the Group Three Anglesey Stakes at the Curragh last time.
"The plan is to run Wilshire Boulevard," said O'Brien. "He seems in good form."

Cecil duo clash in Oaks.
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Tue
Quote:
Lady Cecil will be represented by Wild Coco and Riposte in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York on Thursday, a race her late husband Sir Henry Cecil won five times.
Wild Coco has been a rare visitor to the racecourse, but the talented five-year-old makes the most of her chances and she made a successful seasonal debut when winning the Lillie Langtry Stakes at Glorious Goodwood for the second year running.

Big Voltigeur test for Foundry
http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Tue
Quote:
Aidan O'Brien pitches his once-raced maiden winner Foundry straight in at Group Two level for his seasonal debut in the Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes at York on Wednesday.
The son of Galileo, who will be ridden by Seamie Heffernan, saw a racecourse for the one and only time at Leopardstown last November, when he beat Tonabrocky by five and a half lengths in impressive fashion.
