Cheers for your reply. i pre-registered to get the speed upgrade?? I think the only thing i've done is to get an update for a speed increase?? I was on medium broadband and that was fast enough???
So my monthly bill will have gone up from something i've clicked possibly online accidentally months ago???
BenMCR- just been in touch with my mum and she called up to have a whine about the bill so we've got a bit off and theyve knocked us up to faster internet. No idea how my mum managed to do that! I should have asked her first before cableforum haha

Actually it's not been made clear at all. There is an understanding as to the importance of content but a preference to buy it in rather than produce it or bid for it. However a tie up with Discovery could fit that bill.
With Liberty Global a major stakeholder in Discovery a deal giving the latter a UK platform and guareentee subscription base could be mutually beneficial and have a compound benefit for Liberty.
Discovery focusing on content, Virgin focusing on distribution. I'm thinking high speed delivery of 4K content.
Maybe optimistic but to say not in a million years is a little OTT.
On the other side of the coin a tie up with Sky (or BT) would be interesting as it could be a way of Liberty applying pressure via Discovery ensuring VM get access to content.
on other matters for us XL customers enjoying BT Sport it's great to see that BT have got the first picks of the new rugby European Champions Cup starting next season.

Unless you've got a VMNG300 on 120Mbit, then no it won't mean a new modem

Who on earth (bar being out and about) would prefer watching TV / Films / Videos on a mobile device?

Most wouldn't including me but let's not forget it has many worthwhile uses for instance commuting to work , flights abroad , business trips away , I've seen many without multiroom say they've viewed shows/movies whilst in bed.
The mobile features are part and parcel of most OTT services many of which feature facilities that store your progress allowing you to continue were you left off on another device. Netflix is a perfect example you can watch on the TV to a particular point in a show and then continue were you left off on your iPad on your business trip or commute etc.
Sky Go extra has now made the mobile offering even more flexible by allowing you to use it on 4 devices and allowing you to download content to tablets/smart phones to consume on the go without the need for a internet connection. The Sky Go extra product is another source of income for Sky at £5 or included with multiroom.
The mobile products we see today from the likes of VM , Sky , Netflix , Amazon etc are just the start with plenty more to come. I think second screen will become bigger allowing supplemental features for instance watch a movie and have the tablet companion give you additional info ie director , actors etc without the need to open apps like IMDB. Sky already have companion apps for F1 , Football , Golf allowing you to see replays , highlights , teams , stats and social media comments.
Another very useful feature will be the ability to stream STB recordings to your tablet/smartphone.
