edit: i am talking about this:
Phone alone basic £11.50
2mb BB alone unlimited £29.99
bulldog offer 8mb i think unlimited for a very similar price, so why would some1 join/stay with ntl???
PS, u may argue that u dont need a phone line with bulldog, but u need A PHONE LINE IN THE HOUSE RIGHT [on most occasions], and also talk talk's deal is only £21.50. .........

yes the alone deals are bad but remember 3 things, (a) you need an incentive to go for the bundled deals and keeping the bundled a profit making deal you do this by offering a poor valued product alongside it, (b) the 2meg is unlimited and requires no phoneline, (c) if the customer needs a phoneline then ntl could argue to the customer they can get the bundled packages which gives free broadband and tu24.
the tv alone package should be higher then what they charge now to help them actually make profits and some will still sign up albeit fewer but they will be higher profit customers.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
People always use the excuse that you don't need a phone line with NTL's broadband in order to glorify it, If their price were cheaper then this would be a bonus!
I have found you can get 2MB ADSL broadband for just £15.99 a month and yes it's an unlimited service, and a phone service with a line rental of just £8.99 per month! That totals only £24.98 a month for a 2MB broadband service complete with phone compaired to NTL's £24.99 just for a 2MB broadband service.
Lets not forget if you grab a freeview box your saving more money every month and getting a higher broadband speed to boot than NTL's 3 for £30 deal!
Take NTL's 2MB broadband package and a phone line and the total cost is £35.99 per month!
Hmmm guess NTL don't offer that good a deal anymore!

Yeah its fake gloryifying, no longer want my phone and my tv is a joke of a service, ntl's base pack should now be free especially on analogue it is terrible. Freeview out does it by far yet ntl still charge for it and add a compulsary phone line to it.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
yes, originally it didnt bother me as I used my landline a lot. But now with the upcoming phone price rises and VOIP showing up I want the line gone, but its compulsary with the tv base pack.

Why don't you just switch your phone back to BT & get a 2nd hand Freeview box?

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
because I got no outdoor aerial to put into the freeview.
However...
now my sister has sky fitted in her bedroom and living room she is lending me her box so I can try a cheap aerial on the area outside my window and see if thats a good enough signal for freeview. If that works im killing my tv/phone.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
Hi. I was just looking on talktalk website and had a look at Charles Dunstones blog. In it was the following:
Quote:
We are very sorry but we can't connect you if you are a cable customer. There is no process yet for us to move you back to a BT line and then directly onto our equipment. There is also a problem for people who were once on cable but have subsequently gone back to BT. There is currently no way for us to connect you directly to our network (it's because your number was originally a cable number). We will be able to offer you the same price as the 30% of people outside our coverage area i.e. £10 per month on top of our normal package, but it is going to take a couple of weeks to change this on the system. If this is of interest, please come back and try gain in about 14 days.
|
So from that, correct me if I'm wrong, It would seem NTL:Telewest have no worries, as none of their customers are going to be able to switch to talktalk. It is a shame, as I'm paying around £24.99 for BB and £29 per month on TV and phone. With talktalk and Sky I'd only be paying Aprox £42.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
Well, they wouldn't get a bean out of me until the broadband was up and running, whether "free" or not.
If they're struggling with the demand then why are they still advertising on TV?
Having said that, this article is probably 100% speculation anyway. Phrases like "it is not impossible that", i.e. "I'm guessing".
That message above about NTL phone numbers is a bit mysterious too. Why would the number make any difference? Bizarre.

Re: [Merged] Car Phone Warehouse BB
I dont understand why they cant do ex cable customers? presumably you get a BT line and if LLU is in the area it works.
Dont quite see the reason for that statement.
