I thought channels like TruTV and Spike had to pay VM to be on their platform?
If this is the case does anyone have any idea how much VM would charge? That may be the answer why those two channels may not come to VM.

Some channels do pay to be on the platform (like shopping channels), some are cost neutral (like the BBC channels) and some get paid to be on there (like Discovery).
Details of any arrangements and amounts involved are unlikely to be publicised due to their commercially sensitive nature.
I too am surprised that TruTv isn't on the platform, it was (is?) testing on the system and negotiations for carriage did take place and negotiations took place for Spike too.
Not heard anything since.

Likewise when people are blaming the network when for all we know it could be vm that are the issue.
Truth is no-one but vm and the broadcasters know the truth either one could be at fault.

I'm guessing it's because people want the option to record them?
You shouldn't need to spend out on an extra (Freeview) PVR.

fact is though they are putting prices up anyway and we're not getting anything... at least one could attempt to justify some of the price increases. instead so far we've had HD channels we were told we were going to get about two price increases ago.
At the very least maybe explain why certain channels havent come rather than silence.
"they want D amount and we would only pay C"

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
That's one of the frustrating things with VM, new channels launch on every provider except for VM and there is never any comment. I appreciate the sensitivities of contract negotiations but even an acknowledgement to say 'we are in discussions' or something of the like.
I understand the closed platform explanation but surely this disadvantages VM themselves (and in turn their customers) if channels can easily get an EPG slot on other providers?

VM do sometimes say that, but people then complain about how long it takes.
And what if the discussions come to nothing?

Again just a brief update along the lines of 'following discussions with X we have been unable to reach an agreement suitable to both parties and therefore X channel will not be on VM at the present time'.
At least people would know where they stand and can make choices rather than just wondering will VM get X channel?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
Speaking personally I`m not bothered about getting channels that are available on Freeview as I have a perfectly good Freeview PVR to record programs if I wish to. I realise not everyone can get Freeview or has a Freeeview PVR so will want them but can Virgin really justify carrying them for what I`m guessing is a minority who can`t get Freeview?
Another thing we have to bear in mind when we`re talking about price increases is that Virgin`s running costs increase every year too! We don`t know how much these yearly price increases cover Virgin`s increased running costs do we? I`d love it if Virgin added every single channel available without increasing the cost of my package but it `aint gonna happen folks!

Good News - We got an new update on information on them on Easter Sunday.
Bad News - We still cant reveal how many are testing as they are all listed as "V0--".
We feel the higher % of them broadcasts on UPC Ireland right now.
