Keep having to reset STB

I live in the Manchester area and seem to be having to reset my STB box every couple of days at the moment to get the broadband internet connection back. (it connects directly via the box)

It used to happen very occasionally, but is now much more frequent and can take 2 resets.

Anyone have any ideas if there are problems with the server, etc, or is my STB faulty?

Re: Keep having to reset STB

I only get tv through my 4000 which I have had to reset every couple of days for the last two weeks,. I get up in the morning to find a 'STOP' error on it.

My son's 1000 box upstairs is fine though.

My SACM has been awful for the last few weeks too, I cant be bothered to sit through the queue to report it but judging by other threads on here a few people have probably done so already.

Re: Keep having to reset STB

A few weeks ago, I would end up resetting the STB 3 times a day, as the internet connection kept going down. I think it's a problem with the 4000, it loses the connection when the signal level is low. Try asking for a stand alone cable modem, it may fix the issue.

Or do what I did and ditch ntl all together

Re: Keep having to reset STB

I would suggest checking that there have not been changes to the DHCP server id that might block it in the firewall.check out RDHWs site here also check out your levels here with it being 4000 STBs it could be changes to the tv set up

I have had a similar problem that has got worse over the last couple of months. We were having to reset at least twice a week. I finally set aside a couple of hours and phoned the helpdesk. After bouncing between the BB helpdesk and the TV helpdesk, they agreed to send out an engineer.

He gave a garbled explanation, but in sumamry when the box was installed it was not done correctly - something to do with where we are on the network and the settings on the box. So far it seems to have done the trick. No outages on BB, and even the EPG is working!

One of the underlying problems is that I have such low expectations of ntl that I don't bother reportign problems!!!

ps when the box resets it flashes up their name but spells it nlt!!! Says it all...

Re: Keep having to reset STB

Just had to reset my 1000 twice today, happens mainly when lots of connections are being used (bittorrent)

Its a pain in the ass, especially when you come in from work to see it crashed 30minutes after you left

Re: Keep having to reset STB

Model No DI - 4000N made by Pace. As one earlier contributer said the more connections to the broadband the more unreliable it is. Some form of cap perhaps?

Re: Keep having to reset STB

4000 has known problems on BB if you see robin walkers page. The 1000 may be down to level changes due to the weather, always needed my 1000 SNR and return power levels re balanced in the winter if it was cold or summer if it was hot. This requires a tech to check them out.
