Re: Google changes the rules
It's their search engine, they can do what they want with it.

Re: Google changes the rules
So, to put this news in perspective....
A coconut oil company used to get lots of custom from Google, though they NEVER PAID GOOGLE A PENNY and google NEVER made any deals with them.
Now google have swapped the way their engine works, the coconut oil company are complaining.
TOUGH **** COCONUT OIL COMPANY!!
Ever heard of SPONSORED LINKS????
I think it is an excelent routine for google to be in.
Changing the way points are gained to push sites up the list is a bloody good idea. It stops all the smut sites apearing in the top 10 just because they have so many 'hit words' in hidden text!

Re: Google changes the rules
Most people probably dont use google effectively anyway, no slight intended. They probably just type in one or two words and hit search. They most likely do not use the advanced option to specify phrases, must have words, must NOT have words etc.
Google's advanced input page can be found by clicking a link under the NEWS button / to the right of the "feeling lucky" button
Or you could bookmark this url
http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en
For those that want alternatives to google, and there are some quite worthy ones out there, more so if you want/need to search specialised fields, then www.searchenginewatch.com is well worth a look. It monitors the performance of more engines than kinks post count, provides reviews, suggestions on use, and mucho information

Re: Google changes the rules
http://toolbar.google.com/options_help.html
Voting Buttons - You can vote for or against a page or search result by using these buttons. Click the happy or unhappy faces to tell Google that you like or dislike a particular page. These buttons also can be used to report especially good or bad results after searching with Google. Indicate satisfaction or dissatisfaction with your results by clicking the appropriate button while still on the search results page. This feature is in test mode for now, so you won't see any immediate effects by voting for or against a page.
Changes might have something to do with the buttons?

Re: Google changes the rules
Really had to laugh at this one. How the hell can a company rely on a search engine to maintain their business?
Google can do as they please.
Anyone wanna buy some coconut oil?
