BF2 crashing for fun
Hi all.
I have just got BF2, and I am having too many problems with it to be honest.
First off.
I've given the .exe permission yet if my firewall (zonealarm) is running it crashes when I am trying to get into the MP server listing, then while in there its painfully slow to navigate about.
Many times I attempt to connect to mp servers and get connection errors, all in all it crashes for fun and I cannot get back to desktop.
My specs are
Amd 64 3000 1.8ghz
1gb 2x512mb DDR400 in dual channel
80gb SATA HD
MSi Nvidia 7900gt 256mb Gddr3 stock speeds
XP Pro Sp2.

Re: BF2 crashing for fun
Hay there
BF2 has alot of problems and can crash for the slightest thing. Have you made sure its fully patched upto date ? version 1.3 Is the latest and has caused alot of problems which are now being worked on for the 1.4 release. 1.3 full is the best to use though am not sure why.
Also I have a friend who used zonealarm and it did cause him problems with BF2 and server list's etc etc . . . Cant remember how he fixed that but wil try find out and post back.
EDIT** may also be worth noting that NTL may cause problems with first connection's to servers. I dont know if thats for sure but I have friends who are on NTL and most the time they cant connect first try they have to click again because they get connection lost message. Funny thing is my other friends who are on BT dont have this problem at all. Not sure if its coincidence but seems a bit funny.

Re: BF2 crashing for fun
Thanks I noticed also my card had AA set to maximum, so going to give it a run without that being turned on.

Well that game is flaming useless, the menus are too slow to animate the servers won't connect for ****, looks like I am gonna have to trade it in.
I can game find on Half life 2 deathmatch and Cs-Source and Halo and Need For Speed Most Wanted no problem, BF2 seems to be buggy.

Re: BF2 crashing for fun
I have the same problem with norton. Also the 1.3 patch has caused a lot of new problems.Mainly ctd's and lost connections.
Hopefully the 1.4 patch will solve it,but dont hold your breathe.

Re: BF2 crashing for fun
I uninstalled and installed it this time keeping it at 1.0 and found it MUCH more playable as such the levels load and the game plays.
I think the new patch someone should inform them that it is to improve the game...not bugger the game.
Perhaps they should give EA to Microsoft they tend to work much to the same point.

Re: BF2 crashing for fun
yep same probs here. But I'll be fair I have had a good few decent hours gaming without any problems, even with the latest patch... But only on particular servers.
Mine used to crash to desktop when I ran my memory at 420mhz, I switched it down to 333 or something and it solved the ctp with me. I still however get the "connection lost" message but apperently the bf2 servers are having major problems with the recent patch so that message to me, has nothing to do with you but the server itself.
Take a look at ea forums + totalbf2, you can join the dc-ctp club!!!

This just in from DICE:
Greetings,< br>
We recognize that this has been a very trying time for everyone who enjoys Battlefield 2 and are putting forth every effort to improve upon the issues that are causing some players frustration. The DICE team has been reviewing player feedback gathered from forums, email, and the ranked server providers in an effort to provide the best possible step forward from 1.3. While this work has been highly focused on bug fixing the team has also managed to put some work towards new content.
Some groups have noticed the testing of a new map †œRoad to Jalalabadâ₠¬Â being run on our test servers. This map will be included in our next patch release and is not part of a new booster pack. Some of the items on the change list for this next step are:
· Reversion: Allowing unlocks on unranked servers
· F ix/Reversion: We fixed the issue preventing mod teams from running multiple game modes in one map list.
· Tuning: We have lowered the number of players needed to start a ranked game.
· Tuning: We have made some modifications to the vehicle drop feature introduced in 1.3. These changes should reduce the overall impact of †˜ cartilleryâââ€Å ¡Ã‚¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ on game play.
· Crash Fix: We have located and fixed a crash connected to 1.3.
These are only a small portion of the fixes being worked on for our next step. We would also like to announce that we will be holding an Open Beta in early July for this next patch. We will have public servers hosted, Beta files available on mirror sites, and specific threads for feedback during this Beta period hosted on the EA forums.
As always keep your eyes on this space for all the latest Battlefield News.
