Slow browsing but fast downloads??

Hi,
Can anyone explain this.. ive been suffering with this 2mb>4mb 'upgrade' along with the rest of ya, but it seems very selective in what it affects, if i do a http/ftp download im getting full speed (>200k) but any browsing is slooow about 15k and ftp uploads are down to 5k max.
Im also having endless modem resets (im actually on dial up for this!), id did ask this before.. i have an Motorola 3100 modem is this compatible with the 4mb service?

I have been having the same problem in the Bedfordshire area, motorola sb4100 modem.
Speed testing was reporting slower than 1mb yesterday. Now, its reporting 2meg on speed tests, but slows down sometimes.
Downloading was coming down at 120k, but pages were frequently timing out.

Only just noticed but here in ST6 certain pages take about 20seconds to open (CF seems to be ok for the moment). Thankfully i've had no timeouts yet.

I think NTL are due for another dos attack soon its been over 2 weeks hasnt it since last dns failure.

could be proxies.

my adsl activated today, and the http is amazingly fast, faster then it ever was on ntl. The way pages load I am talking about rather then http file downloads.

Im suffering the same thing, web browsing is slower than it was 2 days ago when I was on 2mb, now on 4mb and browsing is real slow, downloads are around the 240 KB/sec.
