Re: [Merged] Speed Increases 1st June - 2meg to 4meg
Tried a reboot today and no luck. Yet I keep finding my modem has disconnected and needs a reboot anyway. It always gets me hoping it's been done. 2 meg is such a crawl, especially the upload speed.
On the Baguely server myself but with SACM. Bit much really, NTL must make more money off me than those with STB yet we are left behind

On the morning of Thursday the 22nd of June Between midnight and 6AM ,
Network upgrades will result in a loss of service in Seven kings, Folkstone, Baguley, Hemel Hempstead, Lichfield, Northampton, Leicester, Dunstable, Andover, Shettleston, Eastwood, Action, Peterborough, Swindon and the surrounding areas."
but that could just as well be normal non CM config work.
if your on a wythenshawe STB, it still seems odd that after a full week the wythenshawe NTL CM's havent also had their config's updated, still 1 major and 2 minor days left though so perhaps tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm on an NTL:250 in Northernmoor (M23) and still on 2Mb; here's hoping it's bumped to 4Mb tomorrow and that the connection stays as stable as it's been since I signed up to the 512Kb service.

The quote for service is UP TO 4meg - and 2 meg certainly comes into UPTO 4meg. WTF is it about people having to go to 'legalities' over something they know nothing about? The way the upgrades are happening, it's not possible to code the billing system with tariffs for some with 2meg, and other with 4meg.
|
so the billing isnt tied in with the tier they on then?
I would question the legality of selling a upto 4meg service that never reached 4meg but since it looks like ntl may be on track to get everyone upgraded within the month it isnt going to be an issue anyway.

Re: [Merged] Speed Increases 1st June - 2meg to 4meg
Nottingham NG6 gone up in last ten minutes, no reboot required :
Wed, 21 Jun 2006 17:49:49 GMT
1st 128K took 344 ms = 381023 Bytes/sec = approx 3170 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 265 ms = 494611 Bytes/sec = approx 4115 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 266 ms = 492752 Bytes/sec = approx 4100 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 266 ms = 492752 Bytes/sec = approx 4100 kbits/sec
I know this because I'm uploading/downloading a torrent file, and my upload shot up from the usual derisory 20 kb?s to 33 kb/s just this second
