See, without wanting to get drawn into arguments with people again. It may well be a "free" upgrade. But at the end of the day it merely starts to drag NTL somewhere toward the same speeds as other providers give for less money.

1st 512K took 6870 ms = 74.5 KB/sec, approx 614 Kbps, 0.6 Mbps
2nd 512K took 7400 ms = 69.2 KB/sec, approx 570 Kbps, 0.56 Mbps
3rd 512K took 6510 ms = 78.6 KB/sec, approx 648 Kbps, 0.63 Mbps
4th 512K took 4536 ms = 112.9 KB/sec, approx 930 Kbps, 0.91 Mbps
Overall Average Speed = approx 691 Kbps, 0.68 Mbps
Still no upgrade in lincoln, not that the 2mb is much to write home about!

Patience is a virtue
(but give it to me now!!!)
We are still waiting in Leeds as well; it will come when it arrives.

Same here in stoke. Anybody else think NTL will have a mad rush to get it finished? Theres still many major cities left and only 11days for it to be completed. Hope it doesn't cause any network overloads.

I recon it will overload the network - I'm on the 10meg tier - I never get above 8meg and during the evenings get around 2-5 meg.

Yep same here, nothing in Harrogate (connected thru Leeds Proxy).
At least im still getting a decent '2mb'.
I starting to wonder if the deadline will get moved back into July? Im no expert on such issues, but to me there does seem to be quite a gap between areas recieving the upgrades.

I think it will. STB are running 4mbit in Stoke so the area is obviously ready. Flick the switch NTL

Re: [Merged] Speed Increases 1st June - 2meg to 4meg
I'm suprised they haven't done Peterborough yet. We usually get these upgrades pretty early and I've never had any issues with speed. Always got the full 10mbit and now getting full 2mbit.
I wasn't that bothered till I downgraded from 10 to 2mbit, but it feels painfully slow now :p

What is that you dont understand by the phrase "To be completed by the END of June". Changing the billing is part of the process, the process isnt yet complete and nor is June!

I understand it fully, but then they dont need to update the billing until the configs are changed.

Plus, everyone on 2mb/4mb are still paying £24.99 so it's not like they've hiked up your bill first and then upgraded you later and you're 'loosing out', you're still getting what you initially paid for which was 2mb. 4mb is a bonus and will be available when NTL are ready to roll it out 'by the end of June' as has been repeatedly mentioned over and over.
Regarding the billing saying 4mb, that will be the bill for JULY i'm guessing as they bill you in advance, even so it makes no difference to the bill as all they've changed is it saying '4mb' as opposed to '2mb' while leaving the price EXACTLY the same!

Indeed, i usally get around 1.9mb (stable) connection in peterborough.
Connection has been going up and down latly tho speed wise but i'm sure thats down to the upgrading of the network etc. Nightmare for online gaming hehe.
2mb PE6 area.
