Best NTL modem?
I still use the Terrion, I guess they now have new ones ?
Should I carry on using this modem, or ask for a new model ?
I bought the Terrion when NTL started, so paying £19.99 instead of £24.99, however the pressure is on for me to pay the full amount now, I have until November
So can ask for a new modem

If youre paying for it, ask for a new one, youre entitled to it!

Are you allowed to use your own modem if you buy one?

Re: Best NTL modem?
I told them my Motorola was dead and they sent an engineer out to fit a new one.

No. You have to get the modem from NTL. Originally the customer was aloud to pay £150 for the modem which then entitled them to a £5 monthly discount on their NTL bill. This has now been removed.

Re: Best NTL modem?
Also the Terayon can't do the full 10mbit just like the Motorola 3100, so if possible it's best to get it changed somehow.

Re: Best NTL modem?
So what are they sending out these days ? are they better ?
I have 2 Terrions (Long story) and they are both working, but only one of them in use (MAC address enabled) so I guess I could switch back if they sent a rubbish one out
I almost bought a US Robotics at the time, but 3Com took over in the UK and they went very high cost.
No you cant buy and use your own these days, although I think you could get a DOC sys modem enabled just buy its MAC address, after all the TS would not have a clue
Just wonderd what bad modems were out there

NTL:250 (the small blue one). And it's capable of handling 10mbit perfectly.

Re: Best NTL modem?
Hi,
this is interesting, I (as quite a lot of others) have been suffering during this 'upgrade' period with slow or dropped connections. I have a Motorola 3100 modem bought back in the old days and am currently on 2Mb which is now being upped to 4mb i assume.
Could this be a more likely cause of my problems do you think, (rather than NTL just being crap obviously)?
Are the Ambit 250s Ethernet modems?
cheers
Neil
