Asda HD Ready TV
I noticed a big stack of HD Ready TVs in my local Asda yesterday.
Can't remember the make...something I've not heard of before (Baier?).
27" HD Ready LCD TV, with HDMI, VGA, Component, etc. etc.
Price was something like £429.
Anyone seen them / heard about them & know if they're any good?

I saw those a couple of weeks ago but as I hadn't heard of the manufacturer before I decided against buying one. They looked ok, though - as if that's anything to go by!

HD ready does not mean they are totally HD compatable. Whats the res on it?

HD Compatible means its not totally HD.

I had a look when I was in last. I didn't see the res however it does actually have a HDMI connection so I would says its safe to says it is actually able to output proper HD picture probably 720p(1280x720).

well if thats the case then all HD ready tvs have to have a res of 1920:1080 somehow I dont think so do you???

HD Ready means it must be able to accept a 720p (Progressive) input, & have a Component in connection & one that will 'do' HDCP' (Encryption) which is either HDMI or DVI, but as Zing rightly says-just because it is badged HD ready doesn't mean it can accept all HD inputs.
A lot of HD Ready sets will accept a 1080i (Interlaced) signal, but not many (a handful) will accept a full 1080p (Progressive) input (which doesn't really matter as very little is actually broadcast in 1080p!)

But the likely hood of that changing is high. We dont want to have to buy again in 5 years or less just cuz broadcasts change
