How to get rid of set top box

Please can someone help me (apologies if this is the wrong place to post this).

I no longer use broadband or TV from ntl (though I still have phone).

I keep telephoning asking them to take away the set top box and nobody comes. When I ring, they arrange another date and so on.

Is there a point I can reach where I have given them reasonable opportunity to collect and after that I can just chuck it in the bin / ebay / whatever?

Please advise, thanks.

Re: How to get rid of set top box

recorded delivery letter stating pick it up by a certain date or consider it yours? Might work

Re: How to get rid of set top box

Why the heck should you do all the chasing about?? yeah its their equipment, though if they were in such diar need of it for another customer they would already have taken it..

Like thousands of other cases like this, I guess theoretically its yours if they dont pick it up after say 6 months.. Stick the stuff in your loft or other holding, and if nothing sucomes of it another 6 months, then I guess technically its yours.. Just like a mobile phone on a 12 month contract I would imagine, but please dont quote me :P

Re: How to get rid of set top box

Got rid of mine on Ebay no problems, after they didn't collect it for a year. Got £20-odd I think - bought me pizza, beer and fags. Thanks NTL.

I doubt they care about the old Pace boxes any more. It'll probably cost them to get rid of them, so they'd rather not have them.

Do you not feel bad about taking 20 quid off someone for a useless oversized paperweight?

That's what I did with my old analogue STB ntl failed to turn up to collect it when they said.

It was gone by the time I got back, so either they came in the evening and got it, or someone else picked it up!!!

I did state in the Ebay listing that I don't know why anyone would want it. Nothing misleading. Perhaps there are a lot of short people with tall cupboards they need to reach.

I'm confident that with NTL's high security access controls, nobody would possibly be able to buy a second-hand box and hack it to watch all the cable channels. NTL would be mad to let that happen.

Re: How to get rid of set top box

Once you have given and NTL have accepted your 30 day notice to quit then once those 30 days have expired you are no longer under any contract and any terms and conditions of that contract can no longer be enforced!

That is fact!

People here who work for NTL or have an interest in NTL may try to scare you otherwise by telling you otherwise but you will find I am in fact correct!
